"Maya when are we gonna talk about this?" Riley asked Maya.

"Talk about what? What's there to talk about?"

"That thing that happened between you and Lucas."

"Nothing happened." Maya tried to convince Riley she wasn't lying, and actually, she was trying to convince herself too.

"Maya... Honey... Peaches... I don't know if anyone's ever told you this... but you talk in your sleep..."

"What!"

"Yeah..."

Sighing, Maya relaxed into the Matthews' couch and covered her face with her hands.

"You stopped talking to me last night after you told me he grabbed your hand. What else happened?"

"God, I don't know, Riley it was like three days ago." Maya rolled her eyes and ran her hand through her hair.

"Maya." Riley sat up straight, looking down at Maya and raised her eyebrows. Maya sat up next to her best friend and looked down at her hands.

"He grabbed my hand, Riley. He didn't want me to go in. I didn't want to go in! He knew I was mad at him though so he let go."

"Are you still mad at him?"

"Ye-...N-... I don't even know... I know he's trying his hardest to not get angry as easily, but-"

"But what?" Riley interupted.

"I'm tired of arguing."

"Maya Honey, that's part of being in a relationship, it's not all lollipops and roses. There's gonna be some bumps in the road but if you and Lucas truely care about eachother you guys will find a way to make it work."

"He's jealous of Liam though, and I don't like Liam! Liam doesn't like me!"

"He just needs reassurance, Maya. He thinks you'll find something about Liam that's better than him and you'll leave."

"I won't! I've never met a better guy than, Huckleberry."

"Go tell him." Riley smiled.

"He probably doesn't even wanna talk to me, Riles."

"Trust me, he does! He's talked about you nonstop since the play last week."

"But I don't want to leave you alone." Maya rested her hand on top of Riley's and sighed. The doorbell rang and a smile grew on Riley's face.

"I wont be alone." Getting up, Riley answered the front door and in walked Liam.

"Go." Riley smiled, leaving the front door open. Maya jogged out of the apartment, slowing down to a walk once she got into the hallway.

She texted Lucas to meet her at Topanga's in five minutes. He didn't text back, but Maya headed for the little café anyway.

She sat in a booth, waiting for Lucas to show up... If he'd show up. Five minutes passed, Lucas hadn't shown up. Maya looked down, checking her phone and leaning her head in the booth.

Recently Maya hadn't had as much hope as she usually had, and because of that, she figured Lucas wasn't going to show up. She got up from the booth, leaving the cafe and headed up the little staircase outside the front door.

"Maya..." She looked up, seeing an out of breath Lucas standing at the top of the stairs, looking down at her.

"I- I thought you weren't coming." A smile spread across her lips for a second before hanging her head to look at her feet.

"Of course I came. I was taking a nap... You still want to talk here?" Lucas stepped down to Maya's level and she shook her head, still looking down. "My house?" She nodded and walked up the stairs, following Lucas' lead to his house.

They didn't talk at all on the way there. It was an awkward, quiet walk. They walked into the door, being greeted by Lucas' mother.

"Maya, honey how are you?"

"I'm fine." Maya smiled. "How are you?"

"I'm good. It's nice to see your pretty face around here again." Maya smiled to herself and pushed her hair behind her ear.

"We'll be in my room." Lucas interupted, grabbing Maya's hand and pulling her to his room. He turned to shut the door, dropping her hand as he turned. She felt sad... almost empty when he let go of her hand. There was no denying that she missed him like crazy and he missed her too.

"Maya before you get upset, I want to let you know I haven't gotten angry all week."

"You think that's what I wanted? For you to completely change and never get angry and be Mr. Perfect? I don't mind you getting angry, but to the degree that you do. You don't always have to hit someone when you're upset." Maya sat down on Lucas' bed and took a deep breath.

"You're right." He sat down next to her and put his arm around her shoulder, taking a risk, knowing everytime he touched her before, she'd push him away... but this time was different. Maya leaned her head onto Lucas' shoulder.

"Why'd you grab my hand that night?" Her head still rested on his shoulder. She twiddled her thumbs to fight the urge to just give in and hold his hand without any further talking. She wanted to just sit up and kiss him and make up, she wanted to hold his hand and fill the emptiness she had been feeling for a week, which may not seem like a long time but when you get used to something so good and you lose it that quickly... it hurts.

"I-... I was so used to us at least hugging when I bring you home before you go inside. When you just... walked in it... it felt different. I didn't like it."

"I didn't either." Maya admitted. She wrapped her arms around his waist and swung her legs up across his lap. Lucas slowly wrapped his arms around her shoulders and leaned his head on hers. They sat there in Lucas' room like that for a good ten minutes before either of them spoke up again.

"Oh, and you don't have to worry about me finding someone or something better and leaving you."

"Why would I-"

"Riley told me..." Lucas nodded, realizing he couldn't save himself from the truth, especially when he had personally told Riley he was afraid of losing Maya. "Can you promise me one thing?"

"Anything." Lucas sat up, looking into Maya's blue eyes and waited for her to reveal the promise. She looked down at her lap and took took a deep breath before looking back up into Lucas' eyes.

"Please don't hurt me again..."
