He's back.

"N-nahanap?" She said, still in a daze. Mr. Mendoza nodded.

It was a good thing she was sitting, or else she would've collapsed. She could feel her knees were weak. She was trembling, her icy hands shaking.

Mr. Faulkerson immediately released her hands, wiping away tears. Worry was written all over his face. He placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Maine, okay ka lang?"

"Wala po ito. I just need a few minutes to breathe." She said, forcing a smile as she readjusted herself in the sofa, sitting tall and putting her hands on her lap, clasped. She took in a deep breath, closing her eyes. She let out the air, trying to internalize the news she heard.

Richard is back.

The father of my son is back.

My husband is back.

At the moment, Maine could not think of anything other than the desire to slap the hell out of the man and punch him over and over again in the chest, right over his heart so that he could at least feel half of the pain her heart had gone through. Oh the guts of that man to come back.

But why? As much as she wanted him out of her life already, she just wanted to know why he came back.

And why he left in the first place.

Alden as her husband was everything she had wanted ever since they had been together. Alden had been the most patient suitor she ever had. He had waited for her to get comfortable with him, to give her all the time she needed to make sure his intentions were true.

And they were. News about other girls rose, but he made sure Maine knew they were nothing but senseless and baseless rumors. Then there were guys of course, who wanted a chance with her, but Alden proved that he was the best and the most deserving. Other guys got bored of her parents' conservative ways of courting and left, but he didn't. Alden stayed, enduring every grumpy comebacks of her dad, the out-of-the-blue errands of her brothers and every chick flick movie her sisters wanted to watch with him. Her mother had even invited Alden to shop for her clothes with him. Her mother's clothes. Maine had chuckled at him that night, when he came back with her mother at the Mendoza's residence, paperbags on his hand. Still, he was grinning from ear to ear as he saw her.

Her family had been much kinder after Maine finally agreed to be his girlfriend, with her parents' permission. It was not really a grand moment, but Maine knew one of their most magical moments was when she had said yes to him. It was right outside her door, and upon saying yes, Maine couldn't stop herself from cupping his face and pressing her lips to his.

From then on, Maine knew Alden was the one. Even people around them knew it, but bashers continued to hate even after they confirmed the relationship. Haters would say it was still about the money. They didn't care. They were happy. They were perfect for each other. The opinions of the bashers were never really on their list of things to care about.

The bashers only backed off at the announcement of the wedding date. The hate stopped. The fans were very proud. Their families and friends couldn't have asked for more for them.

But most of all, the two of them were the happiest people on Earth.

It was all Maine could ever hope for in life. Ever since she was young, she had always prayed for the man he was going to marry. And now, it was happening. She was going to spend her life with the man she loved.

Their wedding was the wedding of the decade. Although AlDub has lost fans along the year, the whole country was again united even more than the unforgettable day of Tamang Panahon.
