I dreaded the ride home. I wasn't even sure I wanted to go back there because I knew, staring in Tereny's eyes, I was going to instantly feel the guilt that I'd pushed in the back of my mind to keep a clear head. Now that I can no longer keep it clear, part of me just wanted to run off and never return. But how could I abandon my wife and kids? That's fucked up. And I've already been fucking up to begin with.

When I pulled up into the driveway, Tereny's car was gone. I assumed she'd probably made it to her parents' house to spend some time with the family. I was supposed to be meeting her there, but this visit with Martray had my mind somewhere else. I didn't want to be around the Robbins' family and sit in silence the whole time. Tereny was going to be sure to question me. I just decided to stay home.

As soon as I got into the house, I just went up the stairs and went straight to the shower and hopped in. I guess I wanted to wash all of my sins away. But when I got done and dried myself off and looked into the mirror, I realized that the sins were still there. Why are they still here?

PAST –

"Uh huh...I'm bout to catch this mothafucka."

Cheri said to herself as she slowly followed behind Martray down Husson Avenue, making sure to keep a faraway distance so that she doesn't get caught. I was on the passenger's side just wondering when we were about to hit up Mickey D's. At least that's what she told me that we were going to be doing anyway. I didn't want to say anything because she was doing her little FBI thing, but I'd prefer for her to do this on her own when I'm not in the vehicle. On top of that...we're in my car! To top the shit off, she was doing this in BROAD DAYLIGHT!

"I knew it!" Cheri shouted as she stumped on the breaks.

"Ay, man! Chill out, I just put new breaks on this bitch." I say to her.

"Martray's cheating on me! Look!" Cheri shouted as she slowly pulled over across the street from an apartment complex. "He's pulling right into College Arms."

"For all we know, a man could be living up in there. We don't know that. Man, you tweaking." I say, throwing my hand up at her. Cheri sucked her teeth.

"Well, I know he ain't gay." Her crazy ass answered.

"I ain't mean it like that, dumbass." I laughed.

"Well...he's still cheating and I know it. I'm about to get some proof and I am going to kill his ass." She fussed. I rolled my eyes, annoyed.

"If you know he's cheating then why not leave his ass?" I say, knowing that I was making a lot of sense. But in Cheri's sense, I wasn't making any sense at all.

"Boy, hush." She said as she got out of the car.

"Cheri, what are you doing?" I asked her as I hopped out of the car, too.

"I gotta get a closeup." She said as she rushed across the street from the apartment complex.

Nervous that she might get herself into something, I followed behind her, damn near out of breath, realizing that I should've been working out instead of thinking about some damn McDonald's.

She stopped me behind a building as she peeped out. I went under her and peeped my head out from behind the building to get a better look too. And honestly, I can't tell you what the fuck I was doing. All I know was, I was looking at Martray get out of his truck and shut the door. He leaned against the truck and pulled his phone out. When he did, he was doing something.

After watching him for what seemed like too long, I just got from under Cheri and stood to the side, no longer interested. I don't even even believe Martray's cheating on Cheri. I just think Cheri's just delusional as hell and just be wanting to find excuses to yell at somebody.
