"youhaveareallygorgeoussmile." luke blurted and immediately covered his mouth.

"what?" i asked, with a slight smile. stop it, maia.

luke gulped nervously, fiddling with his lip ring. "you have a really gorgeous smile.. but i didn't mean it like that! wait, no! i mean i meant it in a good way. i mean a great way! i mean- ugh i don't know what i mean.." he gushed embarrassedly, hiding his face with his palms. i giggled and smiling, before removing his hands away from his bashful expression.

"don't be embarrassed lukey," i laughed, as he looked back up at me with the lingering pink shade in his cheeks. "you didn't have to tell me, i already know i'm fabulous." i preen, flipping my hair over my shoulder with a smirk.

"of course," he comments sarcastically, rolling his eyes before flashing me grin.

"should i be offended by that?" i ask curiously, arching my eyebrow at him before we both burst out into laughter for no apparent reason.

"luke. my. tummy. hurts. i. can't. breathe." i groan in between pauses of catching my breath.

"did you.. just say.. tummy?" he begins to double over in laughter now, involuntarily wiping tears from his eyes.

i huff annoyedly and jet out my bottom lip by habit. "stopppp.! its not even that funny.."

he glances up at me, noticing my expression after finally calming down. "aw, i'm sorry maia. i'll stop, i promise." luke smiles holding his arms open for me comfortingly. "thanks lukey." i return the gesture and throw my arms around his neck, accidentally knocking him over with me toppling over him as well.

we both end up cracking up yet again at our quirky selves.

"you really do have gorgeous eyes, maia." luke smiles slowly, gazing at me only centimeters away.

"thanks," i squeak awkwardly, making him smile even wider.

before i could choke out any other cringeworthy words, i noticed him leaning in ever so slightly, flickering his sight between my lips and eyes. it was only in a matter of seconds when i felt his lips gingerly brush against mine, causing me to squeeze my eyelids shut and clear my throat rather loudly.

"i- sorry-i u-um.. i think i s-should probably go back.. it's getting pretty d-dark out.." i mumble, quickly scrambling to my feet with my heart beating a mile minute.

"maia wait," luke sighs softly, getting up after me.

"i um, i'll see you around, yea?" i reassure, walking backwards and tried to avoid his stare.

"mai-" luke starts, stepping towards my direction, but i hastily jog off into the crowds of teenagers up ahead exploring the campgrounds, not giving him a chance.

i looked back over my shoulder once more before i blended into the fellow campers. luke held a culpable expression on his face, before sitting back down on top of the grassy hill with head hanging low, running shaky fingers through his tall blonde hair.

i turn back around tears clouding my eyes, feeling absolutely nothing but guilt and cowardice.

it wasn't anyone else.

i did this to him.

i made him feel the way he's feeling.

it's my fault luke's sad.

my fault.

aw, poor maia and luke. :( </3 did this chapter break your heart as much as it did mine? lol but seriously if not its a sign that i need to write better chapters because i legit felt like i was lacking any possible writing skills a person could have. like any other story, my forefinger was most definitely wavering over that delete story button a few times, i have to admit. but what do you guys think about this book so far? is it good? is it bad? comment asapppp. i need the closure more than you'd think lol. but if you did actually think this chapter and all the others were decent so far, please express your love by voting! okay i love you guys soo sooo much! peace outt! -sierra xx
