Heartbreakers

It's too cliché
for me to say
that I'm heartbroken,
so instead
I'll drift away
to memory lane
and take you with me.

I'll show you
everything
that's been happening
to me
from day one
until three hundred twenty three
so let's start walking.

Do tell what
you see
before thee.
Is it the time
when I cried
out your name
or the time I fell in plea?

Maybe what
you see are
the times
before heartbreaks.
The times you
stood by me
under stars
and above seas.

You would
promise me
sweet nothings
in life,
but look at
where I
am now.
Your promises broke me.

Do tell me
which moment
you are reliving.
The time you
ridiculed my
mistakes and flaws?
You left scars you
cannot see.

I'm sorry
I've never asked
how you were.
I'm sorry
I've never asked
if you were
heartbroken too.

But I've learned
not to care about
you anymore.
Heartbreakers
are heartbreakers,
no less
no more.

Why am I so cold?
You locked me in a freezer
and tossed the key.
My heart froze
and broke into pieces.
And here I am, walking you through
a heartbreak you never knew.
