Joshua ~ Ricki and The Flash

First imagine of the book is of Joshua from Ricki and The Flash!

Prompt: The dinner with Joshua's family is done and Josh is keeping his emotions bottled up for the sake of his dad and because he doesn't want a scene at the restaurant. Once you get home he starts to unload his emotions.

Btw, if you didn't watch the movie Linda (or Ricki) is Joshua's mother along with his two other siblings. She left them to follow her dream of becoming a rock star. Linda's daughter, Julie, just got a divorce and 3 weeks ago tried to commit suicide, so she is visiting to make sure she is okay.

Btw you're his fiancé.

(Y/N)= Your Name

"Well it was nice meeting you, Linda." You say smiling to your fiancé's rocker mother.

"You too." She says in a monotone voice, her lips moving slightly while she shoves her hand in her leather jacket pocket. Your smile fades slightly sensing she doesn't like you.

Awkward silence over comes the situation.

"Well," Pete claps his hands together breaking the silence. "we must be going now, Julie has a session early tomorrow."

"Yeah, yeah. Me and (Y/N) have a lot of stuff to do tomorrow too." Josh nods.

"Yeah and I just have to go 'cause I don't wanna be here." Adam blatantly spits out while crossing his arms across his chest.

Awkward silence again.

"Goodnight, everyone." Josh bids his goodbye as he rests a hand on your lower back, turning you both to leave.

"It was nice to see you again, Joshy." Linda calls.

Josh clenches his jaw a bit and gives you a look then he takes a deep breath and turns around.

"You too," He smile at her. "Mom." That brings a smile to Linda's face. "Goodnight, everyone." He repeats and we head off to our car.

Drive Home...

You look over at Josh who is in the drivers seat. His jaw is clenched and his knuckles are white from gripping onto the wheel too hard.

"Learn how to fricking drive!" He yells while honking the horn at the guy who just cut him off. "God!" He groans while shaking his head and setting the hand that he just, lets say, foully gestured to the car in front of us, on the middle console of our black Kia Soul.

"Sweetie." You coo while grabbing his hand. "Don't take your angry out on 16 year old student drivers." You say while rubbing circles on his knuckles.

"I know but they shouldn't even be driving at like 10 o' clock at night!" He exclaims.

"Josh." You scoff trying to hold back a laugh. "Calm down."

"Sorry."

You guys come to a stop at the red light that is about 10 minutes from your guys' place.

"You wanna talk about it now or when we get home?" You ask looking at him.

He just shrugs while running his hand through his hair and sighs. You take that as an overall no.

Home...

"I just can't believe that she would think that she could come back like nothing happened!" Josh complains as he turns the light off in the on suite bathroom while walking into our room in his white t-shirt and grey pajama bottoms.

"Well, to be honest, she kind of didn't." You point out setting your phone on the nightstand and sitting up with your legs crossed, leaning against the headboard, facing him.

"Yeah but as in the way she acted. Like it was a normal 'family dinner'." He plops down on the bed next to you. "She shows up in her rocker gear, tries to act like its a normal family dinner with a normal family."

"Are you saying you're family's not normal?" You question with a scoff.

He scoffs too while shaking his head. "My mother wanted to be a rocker instead of a mother, my sister tried to commit suicide 3 weeks ago over a divorce, I'm pretty sure my father does Marijuana, when Adam told Linda he was gay and said he was single she said he finally decided to call himself that instead of being called a bisexual." He sighs.

You chuckle while shaking your head. "That is pretty messed up."

"But guess what." He intertwines your fingers in his. "You're marrying into it." He leans in and gives you a long kiss.

"Yeah, I know." You smile after releasing the kiss. "But by the way you described it when she was actually there, there was too much fighting between her and your father."

"There was." He nods. "They always fought about how she never did anything to help out. She just was there but not doing anything. Arguing about how she didn't even care enough to take me to my away games when Dad had to work.

"About how we were always late to school because she got up at 10am and took us then instead of waking up to at least wake us up and let us take the bus. About how she never cooked dinner, just order Chinese food or pizza." He takes a deep breath.

"Then my parent got a divorce then she ran off the California to follow her dream of becoming a rock star." He rolls onto his back with another deep breath. "Then we barely saw her ever again.

"She didn't come to Julie's wedding but shes here for the divorce." He rubs his hands over his face. "Here for Juls attempt suicide. It takes her that much for her to come back, (Y/N). It takes one of her kids trying to kill themself to come back."

You adjust yourself so you are laying on your side right next to him. "Well, would have been any better is she was there?" You question.

"Don't you think she didn't regret leaving at least once in a while? But if she did stay it wouldn't have made a difference if she left just it would have been more arguing.

"She wouldn't have happy either." You point out. "Would you have rather had her there and miserable or gone and happy?"

"Gone and happy." He reluctantly answers looking up at you.

"And at least she came. She came when her daughter attempted to kill herself. If she didn't, that would say something about what kind of Mother, Linda or Ricki, is." You poke his chest for emphasis.

"Do you think," Josh breaks the few minutes of silence between the last thing that you said. "Do you think she should come to the wedding?"

You shrug. "Your choice."

What do ya guys think?

I've been wanting to write a Seb imagines book for a while because, you know, its Seb. So I finally decided to do one.

I also wanted to start off with a character that I haven't seen anyone do an imagine of yet and because I got this idea when I watched the movie last night.
