"I want to keep you safe, okay? Is that a crime?" he said, his husky voice rumbling angrily.
"No, it's not a crime." she defended, running her hands threw her short hair. "It's just not a good idea. I mean... You are a gang leader, and I'm a runaway. Do you really think that's a good combination?"
His face fell, "So are you saying that you don't want to be with me?" He asked, the hurt evident.
She winced, and gently placed her hand on his cheek. "It's not that I don't want to, because I do. I just don't want to get hurt." her fingers traced the scars on her wrists from the ropes.
He took her hand in his, and looked her in the eye. "I would never hurt you." he said, seriously.
"I know." she whispered, kissing his cheek gently.
