Kyle and Edwin pushed me forwards slightly and smiled.
" This is Cora, new student, pretty cool girl she is."
The host of the party smiled. " Well atta be. I'm Nick and I hope you have yourself a good time at my party!"
I guess it wasn't too scary. The host was really nice afterall, the new feeling of being ashamed that I had been frightened washed over. I shrugged it off and stood up straight, squaring my shoulders and acually smiling with my head held high.
" Thanks, I'm sure i'll have a great time!" He smiled brightly back and sauntered off to a group of giggling girls.
Turning to same the daily duo, that's what i'm calling them now in my subconscience, I couldn't help but ask," So what now?" My eyes bounced from Edwin's and Kyle's faces. They both shrugged.
" I think I see some familiar faces over that way," Kyle pointed to a a couple of guys leaning on a island in the kitchen. Walking over there I caught glances smiles and waves of some of the familliar faces from my courses. Everyone looked like they were having a good time. I couldn't see any fights, or beer guzzling. Maybe it was my idea of a wild party that had been stressed. Reading and watching too many books and shows can do that to someone I suspose.
The daily duo leaned back agaisnt the counter next to two guys who were leaning forward and talking to other guys on the other side of the counter.
I stould there awkwardly for a moment as they all conversed together. I'd been trying to recognize the two infront of me, one i had a guess because of the tall build and white/blonde hair pulled back into a slick ponytail. Must be Mark.
The other one had a tall build also, and dark rinse jeans with a slightly tight brown tee-shirt. It pulled across him to reveal a well shaped man. The color of his hair i couldn't really see because of the have dimmed light that shone above him.
" Would you stop staring?" Ugh, I reconized that rude voice. Mark turned around and smiled. I liked Mark, he seemed friendly.
" Hey Cora, enjoying you're first college party?" His glasses gleamed from the light, his smile shining.
" Yeah I guess so, I haven't been hear long, don't know many people," I smiled shyly.
He smiled back and Edwin and Kyle started talking to him. I stood there again looking around. Some guy came ambling pass me smiling goofly and placed a red plasic cup in my hand. Bringing it to my nose I sniffed it. Ew. Beer.
I couldn't help but hear bits and pieces of the conversation they were having.
"...and how'd you get him to a party?"
" I'm not really even sure, i'm just glad he is, cranky or not, ever since.."
"...Yeah"
Rogan gave out a angry grunt and slumped even more agaisnt the counter mumbling, I think Ipicked up something along the lines of assholes. Mark adn the faily duo excused themselves and walked over to a few other guys that looked intelligent. Maybe they share classes. Without thinking i leaned backwards unto the counter a couple inches away from Rogan. I kept searching the room, as much as I love being left alone with my dungeon master, a cranky ass dungeon master at that, I really don't.
Awkward silence began to build between us, even in this jam packed room. People were dancing and laughing while i was here, too nervous to move around, stuck next to Rogan, at the same time i knew deep down I was grateful that he hadn't left though.
