Chapter 1: When I Look Into Your Eyes

Start from the beginning

"Sure! I'll just go to the back and see what we have stocked." And with that he walks away leaving me alone with my thoughts in the shop.

Regrettingly, I look behind me to search for the man from earlier, but I couldn't find anyone with his qualities. My heart drops and I quickly turn back to face where the shop worker disappeared to.

When the employee returns he has two boxes in his hands and a smile still plastered on his face. I try to return the smile but I can't get my lips to obey.

"Ok, so we only have two of the colours but we can always order in another one for you if you want."

"Colour doesn't really matter, umm, what do you have?"

The man removed the lid from the two boxes revealing a gold and a silver phone.

"We only have the gold and silver, but like I said we can order in a different colour."

I look at the gold phone and something about it just pops at me.

"I'll take the gold one."

I watch as he places the lid back over the silver phone and brings the gold one over to the cash.

"Alright, would you like to carry over a plan or buy a new one?" He doesn't look up from the screen on the register.

"I'll just keep my existing plan, my name's Phil, Phil Lester."

I try to look at the man infront of me but my gaze turns to my left and out the shop. I find myself disappointed once again when I don't see the man from earlier. I need to stop doing this.

After a while I had my phone completely payed for and the basics were set up. All I had to do now was add my contacts and download my apps.

On my way out of the shop I'm more relaxed and once more I search around for the deep brown eyes and perfect brown fringe from earlier. Nothing. Phil you need to stop doing this to yourself. While I'm busy scolding myself, my phone slips out of my hand and descends to the floor, it lands  with a quiet thump and before I know it a lady wearing a long, purple tubular dress is picking it up and handing it too me.

"I hope you got a warranty dear." She says, her voice soft yet concerning.

"Umm, thanks." I say taking the phone back into my hands, I quickly check for any scratches and am surprised to find nothing, I then make my way out of the shopping centre.

I stand outside, call the cab company and wait for my ride home. When the black cab pulls up infront of me, I hop in and silently set up Siri. I quickly select British Male and look out the window for the rest of the ride.

When I arrive back at my flat I drop everything and head straight to my room. I realize my phone is still in my pocket and rest it on the desk on the other side of my room. Turning from my desk, to my bed I see a slight glint from something on my dresser. I face where it came from and see a framed picture of Chris and I. My eyes start to water as I think back to that day.

All I can see is black, my legs are moving forward and I have no idea where we are going. Chris blindfolded me, he said he wanted it to be a surprise. It feels like we've been walking for ages, but I don't care knowing Chris is beside me. I can feel my feet move from hard cement to soft grass and the city noise seems to be getting farther and farther away. The smell of fresh, spring flowers surrounds me and I take a deep breath, inhaling the scent.

Chris stops and I do the same, he wraps his arms around me from behind and lifts the blind fold off my face. Infront of us is a clearing of grass with patches of flowers here and there. About a metre away rests a thin, blue blanket with a simple, brown basket laying on top.

I turn to Chris and wrap my arms around his body. I pull him as close to me as I can and crash my lips to his. We passionately kiss for what feels like an eternity but Chris pulls away all too soon.

"As much as I'd love to keep doing this, we have some food waiting for us." Chris quickly pecks my lips but his abrupt action is still filled with love. He pulls away and leads me to the picnic he set up.

In the basket he packed many little sandwiches cut into hearts and all kinds of fresh fruit. There were also little juice boxes that we slurped to get the last drops and laughed until our stomachs hurt. Today was the best day of life and I really wish it didn't have to end.

*****

I come back to reality, the reality where Chris is gone, and my cheeks are soaked with tears. I grab the picture frame and smash it against the hardwood floor of my bedroom. Glass spreads all over the ground and even more tears make their way to my eyes. Everything gets blurry but I find myself in tears, surrounded by glass on the floor, once again because of Chris.

I don't know how long I'm sobbing before I here a familiar beep coming from my phone. Siri? I pull myself off the floor, and walk over to my phone.

"Hello Philip." Siri says when I pick up the phone.

I hesitate a minute before deciding on whether I say something or not.

"Siri... I'm depressed."

It seems like Siri hesitates too but I don't think too much into it.

"I'm very sorry, Philip. Maybe it would help to talk to me about it."

This time I respond right away.

"Maybe. And call me Phil."

"You would like me to call you Phil?"

"Yes"

"And Phil?"

"Yeah?"

"Call me Dan."
