"We have to get in line", I laughed, "these guys have priority."
"That figures", Val laughed as he sat down.
Sorra sat down next to Ivan and Navi and I lay down beside her, laying my head in her lap, she started stroking my head.
"You okay?", she asked.
I yawned, "Sedative is still kicking around my systems, a little tired."
"I know what would make you feel better", Sorra smiled
"And what would that be?", I asked.
She bent down and kissed me. In the back ground, I could hear a few of the new guys acting completely disgusted.
"Go somewhere else and do that", one of them said.
"She mine", I said, "I'll kiss her whenever I want."
The dragon rolled his eyes, "yeah right."
I shrugged, "believe what you want."
About a half hour past before Sterling came out of the bunker and the last team of dragons had left the pit.
"I've seen some shitty times in my days", Sterling growled as he paced around the circle, "but you sorry excuses of dragons take the cake. I saw a lot of you boys firing without aiming and spraying bullets all over the place. You don't end up hitting a damn thing and it makes you look like an ass. Sargent Raziel, come over here please."
I stood up and Sterling motioned to a small shooting range next to the pit.
"Ren", Sterling said, "when the targets pop up, show them what I'm talking about."
I chambered a round in my M27 as the first target popped up. Acting on Sterling's orders, I didn't bother to look down the scope as I sprayed an entire 35 round mag at the target, only three or four rounds hit. I dropped the magazine out as a second target popped up. It landed in the sand with a low metallic sounding hollow thud as placed a fresh one in the chamber and charged the bolt. The next target only took about 15 rounds for me to hit this one. I had to resist the urge to bring up the Aimpoint as I shot down the next target, emptying the magazine. I pulled a second one from my vest and charged the bolt as Sterling turned to the recruits.
"See what I mean?", Sterling asked, "Raziel is the best shot in the project and without his sights he sprayed bullets all over the place. Use your sights now Sargent."
The next target popped up and I flipped my LMG to Semi-Automatic and peered through the sight's lens, landing a headshot that dropped the target flat and caused another one to pop up. I quickly popped out of the sight and aimed back down it, using a trick that Vortex's Dad had shown me on how to acquire new targets.
"Note that he's popping in an out of his scope to acquire new targets", Sterling said, "the Anthro's among you would be very wise to adopt this tactic, especially if your a rifleman. That's enough Sargent."
Sterling pressed another button and a board popped up with a target behind it.
"Forget Call of Duty and Halo Cadets", Sterling growled, "grenades are not needed to hit an enemy behind cover. Your rounds are FMJ 77 grain 5.56 NATO rounds. Enemies behind as much as a half inch of construction grade steel will not be protected by it. Ren, shoot those two roaches through their cover."
Without any hesitation, I put two rounds in each target. The broad gave no fight against my rounds as they ripped through the wood and sprayed the paper cutouts behind it with splinters.
"See what I mean?", Sterling said, "you want your targets to go down, you gotta aim down your sights."
Sterling set a box of grenades on the table and opened them up, "grab a few frags Ren", six targets popped up, "Anthros, pay attention."
