Fire and Ice, Secrets and Memories

Start from the beginning

"But how?"

"The fever," I lied "It made a little cushion of air and I broke the ice from their. The room is a little warm to keep the ice frozen for long." I was surprised how easy the lie came. How easy it was to keep my secret from him. He nodded and pulled me to him once more. It reminded me when my father embraced me when I ran to him. But in a very un-platonic way. I pulled away reminded of our situation.

"So what I have learned is that giant Ice men have take over one of the hottest planets and have turned the original population and any visitors to ice" I explained to the Doctor. "Yeah, I can be clever too!"

The Doctor chuckled.

"They questioned me before they froze me. You know the whole where did you come from, what are you doing here kind of thing. They call it recolonization. Taking control of the planet without anyone really fighting back. Interesting how they would choose a planet with three suns though" the Doctor explained.

"Let's just get out of here and figure that out later" I stated. I grabbed the Doctor's hand and he didn't flinch. The situation wasn't as dangerous for me anymore so the heat that coursed through my body was back to its normal fever temperature. It was nice to feel the Doctor's fingers between mine. They would continue their story where they left off. I casually walked out the door, kicking the burnt lock to the other side of the room.

Both me and the Doctor sneaked through the halls. We passed containers and container full of frozen block people. I ignored the cold as much as I could in my shorts and thin shirt. We never let go of each other. Every once in a while we encountered an Ice Man so we hid in the shadows.

"We need to find the control room. Not only can we get this place warm enough to melt the Ice Men. We could save everybody around" I explained. The Doctor nodded and we kept walking. First we took a left, then another left, a right, two lefts and lastly, we went up a flight of stairs.

Don't ask me how the Doctor knew where to go but we ended up at the right door. I was amazed it wasn't more heavily guarded! The Doctor took out his sonic and unlocked the door. I walked in first. Five Ice Men stared at me and then charged. One of them grabbed a weapon and held it at me. I looked back behind me and shut my eyes, trying my best not to burst out into flames. The Doctor used the sonic and pointed it at the temperature control. I saw the temperature rise extremely high. At about 120 degrees fahrenheit it stopped rising. The creatures were melting rapidly. They were just torsos now. I wiped a few drops of sweat off me as the Doctor walked in. I turned the temperature dial to room temperature. The Doctor put his hand on my shoulder. I turned around and smiled at him.

"We did it!" I exclaimed

"We did.."

I heard the power up of a gun. The Doctor's smile faded and he lost his footing. I caught him by the shoulders and sat him on a chair. I looked and saw the gun laying there with the melted form of an Ice Man next to it. I knelt to the floor and held the Doctor's hand a little too tight. Tears streamed down my face. The Doctor groaned in pain.

"Stay with me, Doctor. Please" I pleaded but he was already unconscious. I put my ear to his chest and heard only one heart.

"Doctor please. Don't leave me, remember what you said. We could have a life with more adventures and more dangers and more birthdays" My voice trailed off as more and more tears began to fall. I remembered the words he spoke before I was completely frozen. The Doctor took a deep breath, which slightly reassured me he was alive. Anger pulsed through me. I grabbed the weapon that laid on the floor and strapped in around me. I grabbed the Doctor and hoisted him up, but not before I changed the dial to melt the creatures in the containers. I picked up/dragged the Doctor out of the room and to the outside. There was some sort of vehicle outside still running so I took it. It seemed a lot like an earth car and, to my luck, worked like one. I drove away and tried to remember the route to the TARDIS. About twice a minute the Doctor would take a deep breath, reminding me that he was still alive.
