Chapter 12

*Your P.O.V.*

Everyone was so happy the day you got back, you were equally as happy but you still felt down. You hid it though, not wanting the others to worry, and spent time with the three most important people in your life and Daisy. You decided to lie to your adoptive family about what happened, saying that you were captured and forced to work in Dark Link's castle but you never saw him and we're treated well. They were definitely surprised and skeptical but took your words as the truth, they were just happy you were safe and finally talked.

A week went by and the sad feeling never went away, but you still didn't let it show. Link had been stopping by every now and then to check up on you. Marie constantly teased you and say that he 'looooooooooves' you, you would simply laugh and brush her off. "He's just being a good friend," you would reply, then she would go on about how you were oblivious but you didn't care.

"(Y/n)," a familiar boy's voice calls out as you were about to head inside the house from grabbing eggs. "Hey, Link," you say with a smile before even turning around. "Sooo, I have nothing to work on today and I was wondering-" "She'd love to!," Marie blurts out from behind you, squeezing both of your shoulders. You laugh and shake you head, rolling your shoulders back to get her hands off, "I'd like to know what we're doing first BEFORE I decide," you say to her. "Okay, fine, whatever," she says holder in her hands up and walking back inside, but you knew her ear was pressed right against the door.

"Haha, well then," Link starts again, "I was wondering if you wanted to go for a little picnic. I found a really pretty grove in the forest and the flowers are all in bloom." "That sounds really nice," you reply with a little excitement in your voice,"What do you want me to make?" "I already have everything packed, just needed to pick you up," he says with one of the biggest smiles you've ever seen on him.

"Oh, so you knew I was going to come with you?," you ask with a mischievous look. Link's smile falters slightly and he starts fiddling with the end of his hat, "Well... I uh just-" "I'm just giving you your hard time," you laugh out. Link stands staring at you before chuckling, "You really are something else." "I know," you say triumphantly and start walking to Epona. "Marie! I'll be back before dark!," you yelling knowing she could hear you. "Have fun!!," she yells back through the closed door.

~about a 20 minute ride later~

The grove wasn't just pretty, it was absolutely stunning! Your eyes widen as you stare at the beautiful grove; the grass was a healthy emerald green, the thick Rain and Maple tress surrounding the open grove gave a perfect amount of shade and there were violets, daisies, chrysanthemum, and gypsophilias scattered everywhere. This place is amazing! Almost as amazing as... "I thought you'd like it," Link says walking next to you, your previous thought dissipating, "I was looking for a safe, open space to practice when I stumbled upon this place. The only thing missing is a body of water, huh?" "I think it's absolutely perfect," you smile brightly at him before he turns away to Epona's saddle, a noticeable blush on his cheeks.

"I, ah-hmm, brought some odds and ends for us to snack on. I got sandwiches, pumpkin soup, chocolate covered strawberries, black berries, tea-," he lists quickly but is cut off by you. "Chocolate covered strawberries? How'd you know those were my favorite?," you knew what was happening, this was a date. You didn't want yours and Link's friendship to be ruined, you could only see Link as a friend. "Let's dig in!," you say quickly, laying down the blacked for you both to sit on.

There was a few minutes of awkward silence before Link spoke, "How have you been feeling?" "Fine," you state simply, shrugging your shoulders. "(Y/n), you know that," he scoots closer to you, "I'm here for you, right?" You pop a few blackberries into your mouth and nod, "I know, that's what friends do for each other," you say innocently. Link looks down in slight disappointment and takes a deep breath before looking back up. "I want to be more than friends," Link states without a hint of hesitance in his voice. "Well we're already best friends sooo..." He sighs one again, "Nothing with the word 'friend' in it." "Welllll, boyFRIEND has 'friend' in it, there's husBAND but-" "(Y/n)," he says slightly agitated and places his hand over yours, you look towards him. Link stares deeply into your eyes and leans down to kiss your lips. Damn it...
