"How many times have I told you not to call me 'Darling' on a call or anywhere else, Raghu?" Aryaman said with his jaw tightened.
Raghu chuckled heartily over the speaker. "Arey? Tu mera darling hi toh hai Aaru, jitna tu mujhe princess treatment deta hai utna tu apni girlfriend ko bhi nahi dega... Tu hi mujhse pyaar karta hai bas jatana nahi aata tujhe, lekin koi baat nahi, mai samjhta hoon tere jazbaat."
(Hey? You are my darling, Aaru. The way you treat me like a princess, you wouldn't even treat your girlfriend like that... You are the one who loves me, you just don't know how to show it. But it's alright, I understand your feelings.)
Aryaman rolled his eyes, rubbing his fingers against his temples in frustration. "You are an officer, Raghu. You should at least check whether I am on speaker or if someone is around before talking like that."
Raghu's lighthearted tone dropped into a slight frown. "Hunh? Whom did I call 'Darling'? I swear I am not cheating on you!"
Aryaman snapped his free hand up in the air to cut him off. "Shut up. My mood is already ruined."
Raghu let out a soft laugh, trying to ease the tension. "Okay, okay. Tell me, who overheard me calling you 'Darling'?"
Aryaman bit his lower lip awkwardly. His eyes darted across the open lawn from the balcony, where Panthoibi was kneeling near the flower beds, helping the gardener plant fresh saplings into the soil.
Shaking his head to brush the thought away, Aryaman sighed. "It doesn't matter. Just tell me, why did you call?"
Raghu leaned back into his office chair, "Well, I have some news. I am coming to Bihar."
Aryaman raised his eyebrows, caught completely off guard. "What?"
"Yes, not immediately, but in a few months," Raghu explained, settling comfortably against his seat. "I'll be staying at my grandfather's house for a couple of months. It has been years since I last visited."
"That's true," Aryaman acknowledged, as he continued chatting. "Maybe you should plan to come around the election time."
"Election se yaad aaya, tu kyun nahi khada hota election ke liye? I am sure tere baap se zada tujhe vote mil jayenge... Ladkiyon ke," Raghu laughed, his eyes casually drifting toward the entrance of his office as a civilian stepped inside.
(Speaking of elections, why don't you stand for the elections yourself? I am sure you will get more votes than your father... especially from the girls.)
Interrupting his own laughter, Raghu quickly straightened up. "One minute, Aryaman. I'll call you back." With that, he tapped the screen and disconnected the call.
