"you don't love her. you don't love her. you love me."

*~*~*~*~*~*~*

there was this girl.

she was pale.

she wore glasses.

she wore sweatpants and jeans to school proudly.

she laughed and smiled.

with him.

she laughed and smiled with him.

for him.

he was confused.

didn't everybody hate him?

he hated him.

she hated him.

it's been a month,

and this girl was still with him,

still smiling,

still laughing.

he was smiling.

he was laughing.

without her.

without m a r a.

he came to school with her.

he wasn't sure what they were.

he knew they weren't together,

she wouldn't want to be.

it was obvious.

but then he was in front of the science lab door with her.

and he said goodbye.

but she didn't.

instead,

her lips touched his.

his eyes widened.

she tasted... different.

she tasted like strawberries and bubblegum.

happy.

m a r a tasted like acid and pretentious perfection.

real.

she pulled away and smiled softly.

and walked away with a small, 'bye.'

once she was gone,

he started thinking.

she kissed him.

he kissed back.

not comprehending situations like this had become normal,

given m a r a.

m a r a.

he doesn't care about her.

he cares about j u l i a.

sincerely, m a r a.

Sincerely, Mara. {Wattys2015}Where stories live. Discover now
