Niall•

Life is always changing. Every second of every day things change, we change, our circumstances change, everything changes. We just don't get to know when or how the changes will come; and that's probably for the best. If we knew what was going to happen today, tomorrow, next month or next year it would probably scare the hell out of us.

Still though we are always wanting to know. We tell people "just tell us", "tell me", "I'm strong enough", "I can take it". But then once we know, once we get that terrible news all we want to do is live in denial. We act like everything's fine. Everything's okay. That the wound will heal if you ignore it long enough. You tell yourself that you WILL be okay. Until you aren't...

"Well Niall looks like it's Bronchitis" Daniel, our on the road physician, tells me putting his stethoscope back around his neck

"Again?" I complain as a terrible sounding and painful cough escapes my throat

"Im afraid so" he looks at me sympathetically

"Why again!? This is the second time in the past two months!" I frustratedly put my shirt back on still sitting on his exam table in the med bus

He shrugs "some people are just more susceptible to chest infections and I'm afraid you're one of those people" he shrugs scrawling notes on a paper attached to a clipboard in his hands

"Great" I mumble coughing yet again

"I assume you know that this means-"

I interrupt him "that I'm on vocal rest except for shows and pre-show warm ups. Yeah, I know" I jump down from the exam table

"Okay," he nods satisfied "I'll give your medication to Paul you need to take it three times a day for 10 days"  (A/N: Paul's in this story cause Pauly is the best!)

I nod "'kay"

"And make sure you rest!" He calls behind me as I step out of the bus into the cool summer evening air

"I will. Thanks Daniel" I huff in annoyance, which of course causes me to go into another fit of coughs and chest pains. This happens much to frequently now a days and I can genuinely say, I'm a million percent over it.

I make my way through the back entrance of the chargers stadium in San Diego,.where we're performing tonight, retracing my steps trying not to get lost...again. It's easier to do than it sounds, I swear.

I enter our dressing room that now smells of cologne and pizza to find the boys getting dressed and having their hair done.

"How'd it go?" Harry flicks his head up at my entrance from where hes sat on the couch with a mouth full of pizza

I roll my eyes "Bronchitis, again" I flop down next to him siping from my water bottle

"Sucks. Here," he kicks the pizza box on the coffee table over toward me "Pizza will make you feel better."

"I'm good" I cringe at the thought of putting anything in my body. The smell makes me nauseous enough

Louis pops up sitting straight up "Wow you really must not feel well"  he furrows his brows from across the room where hes sat infront of a mirror as Lou, our hairdresser, tries to do his hair while he fidgets uncontrollably

"Don't move!" She hits his shoulder

"Will you be alright to go on tonight?" Liam comes over to the couch where I'm laying
