Claire: Listen up, because I'm only gonna say this once. You're about to step into a mess of blood, mud, and a whole lot of bad decisions. This story? It ain't a fairy tale. It's ten long years of storytellin' and the world is turnin' cold. If you're lookin' for a hero, you're on the wrong damn ranch. I've got blood on my hands that won't ever wash off, and a temper that's bitten through every chain Dutch Van der Linde ever tried to put on me.

Expect chapters that breathe -- some long enough to make your chest ache and maybe some when the fire's really burnin'. I don't do things halfway. If you can't handle the rabid dog when she's hungry, then turn back now before the frost sets in.

Arthur: Now, hold on a minute, darlin'.. You're gonna scare 'em off before they even get to the first page. Why you gotta be so prickly?

Claire: (A huff of air) Because they need to know what they're signin' up for, Arthur. I ain't clementines and sunshine anymore.

Arthur: Maybe not. But you're still the woman I fell in love with ten years ago. (A low, gravelly chuckle) Folks, ignore her growlin'. She's had a rough time of it lately. The point is, we're glad you're here. Just... keep your head down when the lead starts flyin'. And maybe bring her some coffee. She's real mean without it.

Claire: Watch it, Morgan. Or I'll make you muck out the pastures for the next week.

Arthur: Alright, alright. I'm shuttin' up. Go on, tell 'em the rest.

Claire: Right. Stick around. Vote, comment, or don't -- just don't get in my way when I'm lookin' for an O'Driscoll. We've got a long road ahead, and the fire's just gettin' started.

[A sudden, sharp clearing of a throat.]

Author: Okay, you two, that's enough. Claire, put the gun down -- they're readers, not bounty hunters. And Arthur, quit distracting her; do you want them to swipe to the next page or not?

Claire: (tilts her head) Swipe? What the hell does that mean? (Looks to Arthur)

Arthur: (Shrugs) Why the hell you lookin' at me for? I can barely speak English.

Claire: (Rolls her eyes) Neither can I, cowboy. I just wanna know what the hell she means by 'swipe'.

Author: (Sighs) It's -- nevermind. Anyway, hi everyone! I'm Megan. I'm the one responsible for the ten years of heartbreak, and the occasional perspective swaps that might leave you reeling. I've put a lot of soul into this book, so I hope you're ready for the ride.

Arthur: She's a mean one with a pen, folks. Don't say I didn't warn ya.

Author: Go help your wife with chores, Arthur! Enjoy the book, everyone. Try to keep your hearts intact -- I make no promises!

Oh these two -- I love them with my whole heart. They've been through so many changes, so many character developments, plot points and complete story refreshes, I've lost track of how many I've gone through to build this world and this character that I'm proud of.

You may have noticed that the cover got an update as well. I fixed her hair, made him look more like Arthur (yes it was done with Gemini but I don't care because it fits the vision I had for the cover and I suck at photoshop) The title stayed the same because it best fits their relationship and after some heavy thinking, editing, plot changes, scribbled words onto a notebook, notes app filled with scenes in my head and finally, something beautiful came together and I wrote like eleven chapters in a week.

This book contains three parts:

Part One --- 1889 to 1897

Part Two -- 1898

Part Three -- 1899 to 1907

Please pay attention through the first half (READ SLOWLY) as it contains several "mirrors" to the main story that we all know and love. With a few sprinkled ideas of my own in there.

WARNING: This book contains violence, sexuality, and other mature themes. Viewer discretion is advised.
