Birthday Beatdown

     Last night was perfect. Nate and I stayed in the bathtub for hours and just talked. We laid down in bed and just enjoyed each other's company. The grand window by our bed was open and the sun was beginning to rise. Nathan came through the door with a tray. It had waffles, bacon, orange juice, fruit, and a flower.

"Happy 23rd birthday baby." He sat the tray down in front of me.

"Thanks babe." I kissed his cheek.

"How does it feel to be 23?" He laughed

"Perfect." I bit into my bacon.

"What happened to my job and my apartment?" I continued

"Well I sold your apartment. And you still have your job."

"Can I quit?"

"That's all up to you birthday girl. But get dressed I have a lot planned for today." He stole a piece of bacon and let the room.

"Pick a horse." The owner said

"I like this one. What do you think Nate?" I pointed to the brown horse with white ears and hair.

"If you like it I love it." He cooed

"Alright well then this one it is."

     The owner opened the gate and Nathan helped me onto my horse. She was very soft and her mane was silky. Nathan mounted onto his horse before we took off on the trail. We started out slow, Nate showed me how to ride and what not to do while I'm riding.

"Is there something you don't know how to do?" I chuckled

"Uhm...I don't know how to dance or eat with chopsticks."

"Really?"

"Yup. I'll race you to the end of the trail." He shouted before taking off.

     I pushed my horse to move faster and we took off. The wind was in my hair blowing it behind me. Nathan was nowhere to be seen, I think he got there already. I came to the end of the trail and tied my horse up next to Nate's.

     I walked further down the trail and came across a small beach. Nathan was sitting on a white picnic blanket  with his back to me. I slowly walked up behind him and kissed his cheek before sitting down. It was beautiful there was different kinds of food on the blanket. He sat with a pair of chopsticks in his hand.

"Just when I think I've seen it all you show me even more." I laid my head in his lap.

"I just want the best for my princess." He leaned down and kissed my lips.

     In 2 second I was standing and behind Nathan. He crouched down in a defensive stance in front of me. I looked around but saw nothing. Long sharp pointy nails shot from his fingers and a loud growl came from his throat. I jumped at the sound of it. Two men one asian the other white appeared out of no where in front of Nate.

"Nathan we just came to see this new mate of yours everyone is talking about." The Asian one chuckled.

"Go away or I will rip you both in half." Nathan growled.

"Does she talk? What is your name dear?" The white one said.

"Don't say anything." Nathan commanded.

"We come in peace honestly." The Asian said.

"She's human." The white one taunted, both of their teeth ejected out of their mouths.

"Nathan you didn't say you had a juice box for a mate." The asian chuckled before they rushed towards us.

     Nathan yelled before rushing towards them. They were all moving so fast. It was all a blur, I could hear them breaking through the wind and growling. I got up and started running for the trees. I hopped on my horse and rushed back to the stabled hiding in one of the bathroom stalls.

     I waited for what felt like hours. The bathroom door slowly opened and I crouched down with my feet on the toilet seat. Footsteps could be heard along with the stall doors being pushed in one by one. I dug in my purse and found a pen. I took the cap off and held it up in the air ready to attack. The stall next to mine was pushed open and I was trembling with fear. My stall door opened and I jumped in the air about to attack when two big strong hands caught me in the air.

"Wait wait wait! It's me." I looked down to see Nate.

"You scared me! What happened? Who were those people?"

"I don't have time to explain. Get on my back." He gave me a serious look.

     I jumped on his back and we took off. The wind was beating my face. He ran through trees and even across water. I could not believe my eyes. This whole thing felt surreal. When we got to our front door he put me down. He looked really pissed.

"Nathan." I pulled his forehead down towards mine.

"Yes." He sighed.

"What happened back there?"

"I was protecting you." He kissed my forehead and pulled me into a hug.

"Who were they?"

"You don't have to worry about that."

"Nathan." I whined.

"Jessie please."

"Alright." He let me go
