POV Geto

"It's a grade 2 Satoru. Stop playing with it."

I am leaning against a concrete pillar watching Satoru beat the shit out of a tall purple curse with 4 arms. I haven't gotten to watch him fight a curse close up in a long time. His lightning eyes are focused, his movements precise, and his muscles glisten with sweat from the morning heat.

"The weaker I get it the easier it will be for you!" Satoru smiles over his shoulder at me while slapping it.

"Now you're just wasting time." I roll my eyes. "Move."

Satoru moves away from the curse that is lying on the ground practically dead. His gaze stays on me as I walk up and lift my hand...

Concentrate.
.
.
.
Nothing.

"It's ok Suguru. Take your time." Satoru says sweetly while standing next to me.

I wasn't nervous at all...until now. I didn't think about the last time I consumed a curse. Not about Kenjaku. Not about how I hurt Satoru. How I scarred my friends.

Now...I am frozen with fear.

"You don't need to..." Satoru's hand rubs my lower back gently.

"Yes. Yes I do. It's for the students." I clear my throat and lift my hand higher.

Concentrate.

The curses body starts to pull up into the air in small wisp of colors. My arms are numb and I feel short of breath as the swirling picks up its pace and eventually the whole curse is in the vortex.

I flip over my hand and a small purple ball floats to my palm. It's cool against my skin as memories of the past rear up to suffocate my mind.

"You're doing great Sugar." Satoru moves so he's standing in front of me. His ocean eyes calm, his smile gentle.

"It won't happen again...it can't. He's dead." I stutter out between breaths I cant seem to catch.

"It will never happen again. I can assure you he is very VERY dead." Satoru chuckles while rubbing my arm.

I manage a small grin as I pretend my insides aren't churning.

Silence fills the room.

"Can you...turn around?"

"I literally watched you suck me dry this morning..."

"This is different Satoru!" I rub my forehead with my thumb.

"Fine fine fine." He whines as he turns around and puts his hands in his pockets.

I roll the purple sphere in my hand watching it glimmer in the early morning light. It's pretty...

It's going to taste like shit.

Ugh. I don't miss this.

I bring it to my mouth as I close my eyes. I carefully ease it in past my lips, my teeth, and to the back of my throat where I relax myself and...swallow.

I feel the coolness of the orb travel down my throat and into the darkness. I keep my eyes squeezed shut. Keep my breathing steady. Keep my heart from racing.

"Good job."

I open one of my eyes to Satoru bending down slightly to look under my hair thats fallen over my face.

"I'm okay..." I breathe out holding my head subconsciously.

"You are ok." Satoru wraps his arms around my shoulders and holds tight.
