POV Haibara

It's freezing in here.

I sit behind my linen that hangs from the ceiling and wait for the leader to emerge from his chambers. Everyone is present today.

The torches on the walls always give me an eerie feeling. It's makes the already dingy concrete room even more unappealing.

I keep my heart rate steady and calm. I have learned to mask my anxiety well since one of the higher-up women's techniques is being able to sense other people's bodily states. They use her for interrogations since she can see if someone is lying.

I have gotten very good at lying.

I have most of their techniques down...6 of the 8. This is information I will pass along to Gojo when the time comes.

I close my eyes as I hear the large metal door open and our leader step into the room. Another set of footsteps follow him which would be Naoya.

"Thank you all for appearing here on such short notice." The leader says loudly as he sits behind his cloth.

Naoya stands off to the side. He is not one of us but I assume his father wants him to take over in the future.

Naoya missed meetings for over a week a couple months ago. Rumors say he was in the infirmary because of Gojo. This only fueled everyone's disdain for Gojo sparking their plan to capture him when he was visiting Sera's parents.

I haven't found out exactly how they were going to do that...they must have a weapon or a cursed tool that I am unaware of.

That Gojo is unaware of...

"I have a new report..."

Shit.

"Almost three weeks ago there was activity on a ferry that was crossing from Kagoshima to Okinawa. One eyewitness said they saw a flash of purple light in the sky in the early morning of September 23." The leader states loudly.

"Did they see Satoru Gojo?" An older male asks.

"No. My officials confirmed that no one on the boat noticed anyone that fit his description." The leader taps his shoe.

The sound of tapping makes my chest shake. I keep my breathing calm and heart steady hoping the lady did not notice the subtle change.

No one noticed Gojo? Were they all blind? Or...blinded by money.

The HU's (higher-ups) went to close Gojo's accounts but they were already emptied out. Billions of dollars gone. Gojo is not the dumbass guy that they all assume he is.

Gojo was already a mile ahead before they even took their first steps. He still is.

"So do we send more of our forces over to Okinawa?" Another man asks.

"That is the question...do you have an opinion?"

I can feel his eyes on me. I straighten up.

"Sending more of our forces than necessary to Okinawa would create a weak spot in Tokyo. One sighting from a pedestrian is not enough to put our base at risk." I say strongly while my insides shake.

Please believe me.

Silence.

"I agree with that. Satoru Gojo will slip up. Let them get comfortable. His guard will go down just like it did many years ago." A woman says softly but her voice fills the space in the room.
