"Is it okay if I take off your other makeup?" She asks and once again I nod, "Great." She starts to rub a cool cloth over my face, clearing away the hastily applied makeup. "So you are using the wrong shade completely for concealer, what you need is a lighter color, because you are pale, and then add blush lightly to add some nice color." She talks while expertly applying the makeup. "Then for your eyes, you need just a bit of eyeliner with a natural shade of eyeshadow, than you can add your mascara or fake lashes, whatever you prefer, but for now, we're just going to use mascara." She draws out some of her words, extending some of them to make them last the length she needs to apply the makeup. "Then for your lips, you can either go bold or natural, but for your outfit," she tells me, gesturing to my tee-shirt and shorts, "I would recommend going natural with just a bit of gloss, but you can also go bold with a pink or even red, depending on your outfit." She finishes with one last swipe of lip gloss, leaning back to admire her work. Her eyes scan over my face before she smiles and spins the chair so I can see my reflection.
Is that really me? I'm absolutely astonished by the girl in the mirror. Her skin tone is even, her cheeks are a nice rosy, her eyes pop, and her lips actually look full.
"Wow," I gasp.
"I can help you find the products if you want?" She offers, but I can only nod, my eyes fixed on the girl in the mirror, looking at me with the same amount of astonishment that I must have on my face.
I buy most of the products, adding makeup removers and an eyeshadow brush since Jules chewed mine until all the bristles fall off.
"Thank you," I say, grabbing my bag and heading to the next store: Hollister. For my grad last spring, most people didn't know what to get me, so I have like fifty bucks for Hollister, and around the same amount for Garage. I scout around, grabbing clothes that i think will look cute on me, before heading off to the change room, excited to finally get to the clothes part.

"Mom? I'm home!" I call down the stairs, heading to Hope and my room to put all my stuff away before dinner.
"Dinner will be ready in twenty minutes!" She replies. Okay, maybe I might only have time to set my bags down before facing the hurricane that is my mother. As soon as she sees my hair she is going to flip, I can almost predict it.
Thankfully Hope isn't in our room at the moment, which probably means that she's watching whatever show she's addicted to now on Netflix on the tv in the living room. I let out a breath of air as I set my bags down on my bed before walking slowly down the stairs. Like I predicted, Hope's eyes are glued to the tv, barely paying attention to me.
"How was the mall?" She asks briefly, only half paying attention.
"Pretty good, I guess." I shrug, not realizing that because she's not looking at me, she can't see the action.
"Fai- what the hell did you do to your hair?" My mom freaks, finally looking at me.
"They're just highlights." I say defensively, prepared for her comments.
"But they're blue!" She protests. I look over to see that Hope had paused her show and is now watching the drama happening between my and our mom.
"I never said they weren't." I shrug, not seeing the big deal.
"You-you look punk!" My mom actually looks shaken up.
"It's my hair, can I not do what I want?" I scowl, not seeing her logic.
"Please tell me it's not permanent." She begs, but I was never one to lie to my mother.
"One hundred percent, I even got special hair products to make it last longer." I smile smugly at her, seeing her anger bubble more.
"Honey! Come see how your daughter has destroyed her hair!" My mom shouts to my dad, oblivious in his office.
"Okay Hope, what have you don- Faith?" Our dad looks between Hope and I, seemingly shocked.
"I am slightly offended by that, but it's probably true so never mind." Hope shrugs, using that motion as an exit out of the next conversation that is sure to come.
"She has destroyed her hair!" My mom points exasperatingly at my head, as if the more she points at it, the more it will disappear.
"It will eventually fade out, don't worry," my dad soothes my mom, who currently looks like she might explode.
"You got a second piercing too!" My mom says, pointing to my left ear where a stud pokes out from over the music notes; which are the earrings that I'm currently wearing.
"Only on one ear. It was in for half price at the hair salon." I can see Hope trying to control her laughter over the entire situation.
"That is it! You can go to your room and think about everything!" My mom finally demands.
"Whoo, twice in one weekend." I say sarcastically, walking up the steps before going into my room to put all my new clothes and makeup away.
I could still hear my mom yelling at the top of her lungs. "What about church? They're gonna think we accept that in our house, which we certainly don't!"
As I was halfway through with all the makeup, Hope starts talking behind me, "Don't worry, I think it looks good. I'm just a little surprised because I always thought I would be the one to do that." She chuckles. "It's so hard to keep a calm composure down there, I wanted to burst out laughing as soon as she mentioned church." She laughs lightly just thinking about it.
"Ugh." I groan, the thought coming to me as she said it, "I haven't even thought of that."
