Yeonjun sighed while fidgeting with his fingers under his big hospital blanket that could literally suffocate him just by how thick it is. His dad insisted on renting the biggest room for him when there were clearly people who needed it more.

"Speaking of which, does he know that you're hospitalized right now?"

The older shook his head before showing their text conversations or rather his one sided conversation with Beomgyu.

"He's not been replying to my texts. I don't want to just drop a huge bomb on him you know?.."

Soobin sighed dramatically while placing his hands on his forehead.

"Oh what will I do with the both of you? One is acting stupid and one is actually stupid."

The older immediately rolled his eyes while pulling his phone back annoyingly.

"Yah! Watch your words pabo, I'm still your hyung."

"You know when it comes to intelligence, I'm actually considered as the smarter one."

"Just shut up and pass me the water."

"Yes sir!"

"별의 목소리를 따라 (별의 목소리를 따라)
함께 노래하는 너와 나
서로를 기억할 영원의 노랫말"
Song of the stars, the stars with you
내 이름을.."

Beomgyu takes another shot of tequila like his life depended on it, like alcohol was the only thing that could save him from his life—even if it was way too strong for his liking.

"Beomgyu hyung! Do you wanna sing with me? It's your favorite song.."

The brown haired boy shook his head weakly before pouring another shot into his glass like it was water. His ears tipped pink and he felt like he was going to pass out any second, making the younger in front of him furrow his eyebrows.

"Hyung you've been drinking for an hour straight, we came here to sing, not drink. You're driving, remember?"

Hueningkai stares at the older worriedly, memories when he had broken down because of past lovers flashed right in front of his eyes. Beomgyu was the kind of guy who always had a drink in hand— not because he liked the taste, but because it made the world a little quieter. Every sip was a way to forget about breakups, reminding himself that he was used to this. But no matter how hard he wanted to deny it, he wasn't used to any of it. Getting rejected like it's nothing. Telling himself he already prepared for the phone call. It wasn't easy.

But Yeonjun.. God he was a different story. He was kind, sweet. He has that charismatic charm every time he enters a room. But not even the sun can shine on both sides of Earth, and Beomgyu knew that he was going to dump him the moment he found someone better. Sweeter. Prettier. Cuter. Someone who could give him what he deserves. Not unanswered messages or a cold shoulder. Someone who could cook him homemade pancakes every morning, someone who would sing to him on his birthday even if he lived ten miles away.

Someone who wasn't him.

A dim star always lasts longer than a bright one. They live longer, steadier. Even if their presence is subtle— sometimes even unnoticed. But they stay, they last for billions, sometimes even trillions of years. Beomgyu was a bright star. Everyone saw him as the guy everyone wanted, but never needed. He was the dream guy in front of the girls, but deep inside he knew, he was none other than a broken heart. Something that couldn't be mended let alone showed to the public, it was a part of him that was buried deep inside.

"Hyung.. you okay? Did you reach your limit already?"

That word.

Already..

He was never a heavy drinker. He didn't reach his limit already, he was already at the limit long ago. But in everybody else's eyes, he turns into this strong, unaffected boy whole never seems to get hurt. Maybe it was because he never once let it show, or maybe it was because he buries everything into the bottles of alcohol he drinks right after another breakup.
