"Are you going to Yuna's party?"

Yeonjun gave the black haired boy a hard glare before shaking his head.

"You know I don't like her that way anymore."

"I know I know. But I need your help with Beomgyu hyung.."

"What?.."

Taehyun shrugged before pointing at his invitation.

"I told him he could come with me as a partner."

Going with Taehyun as a partner?..

Yeonjun didn't want to admit it, but it bothered him. And that was the annoying part. He was bothered. And he didn't even know why.

"Still. I'm not going."

...

"Listen.. Kai is going too and I need to ask him something.. I can't stay with Beomgyu hyung the whole time so can you please go? I heard he gets drunk easily.. and who knows? Someone might hurt him."

Yeonjun wanted to refuse so badly, but why couldn't he? He wasn't really the party type, especially with Yuna. Sure, he enjoys group gatherings or carnivals, but there was just something about parties that seemed off.

Since he was born, there was a legendary curse in the family. His great grandmother died at age thirty, her death left unknown like a piece of golden treasure buried deep inside the sea. But that wasn't all, his mom, who tried to find out the true cause of her dear mother's death, lost her life in her twenties, around when Yeonjun was first introduced to the world.

"Dad! Can you read me a bedtime story?"

Yeonjun runs towards the living room, excited to have his dad read him a storybook that he spent long hours to pick. Ever since he was young, bedtime was always his favourite time of the day. It was when his father would finally give him some attention, even if it was just a couple minutes.

"You should pay some attention to Yeonjun. He's always so lonely at home, maybe consider letting him go to school? He's been homeschooled for five years now, he still needs social skills right? Ever since my sister died, the family just hasn't been the same.."

His tracks immediately stop at the mention of his mother. The voice.. He recognised it. It was his aunt, his mother's sister. But why is she here?

"I know and I'm thinking about it. I'm very worried about him, if I get caught.. it would affect him too. His childhood, his happiness, his innocence, it would all be gone.. If only I hadn't gone to that party.. she would still be here.."

The little boy couldn't believe what he was hearing. He always thought that his father was the best person ever. He would never do anything bad or harm anyone potentially, right? The grip on his book loosened, and before he knew it- a soft thud and he was gone.

"Hello? Earth to Yeonjun?"

Taehyun waved his hand in front of the older's face which caused him to be pulled back to the present. He didn't want to go, not until he finds out what happened to his mom that day. But something still felt off, he couldn't just leave Beomgyu there right? If he gets drunk easily, what if someone flirts with him? Or worse, what if someone hurts him? He sighed before nodding hesitantly.

"I'll think about it."

"Mind if I join you?"

Yuna looks up, the sunlight shining through her eyes, finally meeting gazes with a tall blue haired boy.

"Sure."

Soobin takes a seat next to the younger, the tension between them was slowly growing, yet a comfortable silence filled the air.

"You still like him?"

Yuna scoffs, pretending to be offended by his statement- although she knew that it was true. He still liked the boy.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"Really? Because I see your cheeks turning pink."

The younger blushes even more, the faint pink on her cheeks slowly turning redder. She could practically feel the blush on her cheeks creeping up to her ear, and before she knew it, she was smiling.

Her mind drifts off slowly, back when they were still together.

Yuna hears the front door creak, which means her boyfriend was finally back home. They hadn't gone to the same school due to Yeonjun switching every month, but it didn't stop her. The girl was determined to push through all the problems and love the love of her life. Or so she thought.

She hurriedly jumped out of her bed, turning off the lights and tucking herself in. Yeonjun would often complain that she shouldn't still be up waiting for him since he would always be out shopping for clothes or sitting at the nearby park until midnight. But she didn't listen, she wanted to wait for him. She would get nightmares if he wasn't there, lying beside her.

Her bedroom door finally opens, a familiar guy walking in. A small smile slowly made it's way to her lips, her grip on the pillow tightening. The shower was always her favourite sound back then, because it meant that her boyfriend was finally getting relaxed.

A couple minutes later, Yeonjun steps out of the shower before putting on his pajamas. The girl, still wide awake couldn't help but smile wider, feeling relaxed that the older was finally getting some rest. And before she knew it, she was slowly drifting off to sleep, holding a teddy bear in her arms.

Yeonjun, seeing that the younger had finally fallen asleep, smiled softly before going over to gently rub and pat her hair. He moved his fingers through the soft locks for a while, and carefully tucked her into the blankets, making sure she doesn't feel cold for the night. A few minutes later, he finally laid next to her, still playing with her hair.

A feeling the girl could never forget.

As she finally pulls herself back to reality, a tear drop falls. She couldn't bother to wipe it away, letting the burning tear begin to stain her cheeks. Sure, she knows that she has to move on someday. But how? How could she?

Why can't you love me again?..

Sorry for not updating for so long y'all. I was having some mental issues and my studies are so stressful BUT ANYWAYS a new chapter!!😭🫢
I rlly wanted to focus on the character's past this chapter so yeaaa... Beomgyu's and Soobin's will prob come soon idk🤓
