Then Aizawa's voice cut through the silence, sharp, unflinching.
"The last time we said your name around him, he lost control. Screamed until his throat tore. Slammed his head into the wall until we had no choice but to sedate him."
He looked at you, eyes dark and heavy.
"That's why we kept you away."
Endeavor crossed his arms, expression unreadable. "And frankly," he muttered, "he's not your responsibility."
Your body was trembling, but you didn't step back.
"I still want to go."
The words left your mouth barely above a whisper, but they sliced through the room like glass.
All three of them stilled. You could feel it, the shift. The flicker of uncertainty. Of something they weren't willing to admit: hope, or maybe fear.
You stepped forward, voice rising, shaky but steady enough to be heard.
"I might not remember him. But you're telling me he's in there, tearing himself apart, and you're just watching. Hiding behind sedatives and protocols while he forgets what it means to be human."
You looked each of them in the eye.
"He's not a project. Not a mistake. Not a time bomb you're trying to defuse."
A beat of silence.
"He's a person. And he deserves more than this."
Your fists clenched.
"He doesn't need a miracle. He just needs someone. Isn't that enough to try?"
Recovery Girl's expression softened. She reached out, gently touching your arm. "You may not recognize what you find. He's not the same boy you used to know."
"I'm not who I used to be either," you whispered, wiping your eyes on your sleeve. "But if he's in that much pain, he deserves more than cold rooms and closed doors."
There was a long pause.
"I want to see him," You said again. "And after this summer, I'm leaving UA."
The room went even quieter. Your declaration wasn't just a threat, it was a promise. The beginning of a new chapter, one where you reclaimed what was lost, no matter the cost.
There was a long pause. The room seemed to shrink around your words, swallowing them whole.
Endeavor's eyes snapped to you, sharp and incredulous. "You're serious? Leaving UA? Just like that?" His voice was a low growl, disbelief mixing with frustration.
Recovery Girl's expression tightened, her hands clenching at her sides. "You don't understand what this means. Walking away now could destroy everything you've worked for. Are you sure you want to throw it all away?"
You stood your ground, unwavering.
Aizawa said nothing. He watched you, his gaze steady, unreadable — like he was weighing something far deeper than the surface conflict.
Endeavor took a step forward, voice rising. "You don't get to decide this on a whim. You think you can just walk out because things get hard? Because you want to chase ghosts?"
You met his glare without flinching. "No. I want to see him because it matters. And after this summer, I'm leaving, whether you like it or not."
The room was silent again, heavier than before.
Aizawa finally spoke, calm but firm. "If you're going to do this, you'll need to be ready for everything it brings. No illusions."
You met Aizawa's steady gaze and swallowed hard. "Okay. I'm ready."
