The hallway hummed with tension. UA's reinforced walls trembled with distant echoes of combat, the war had already begun. You stood near the med station window, pulling on your gear, the flickering overhead lights strobing against the sterile white tile. Your earpiece sent a beep, someone was trying to talk to you.
Your hand hovered over it when it screeched to life.
"Lux, come in. Status?"
You tapped it once immediately. "Lux here. Fully geared, stationed at UA med bay. No incoming injuries yet."
As if on cue, your eyes drifted toward the city beyond the glass.
Three figures blurred past on the street below, boots slamming into asphalt — unmistakable silhouettes in the chaos:
Mirko, Endeavor, Deku and others.
They were running — fast, focused. A straight line toward something you couldn't see yet.
Your stomach dropped. And your earpiece clicked.
"Lux," came Edgeshot's voice — sharp and composed, but taut with urgency. "We're getting word that hostiles are spreading across multiple sectors. You're on emergency support. Be ready to move. Prioritize stabilization, evacuate wounded. Do not engage unless absolutely necessary."
You pressed your earpiece firmly. "Understood, sir. I'll hold this position until field support is needed."
You reached for your portable med pack — quirk-neutral stimulants, rapid seal foam, gauze bandages and more. Your fingers moved fast, trained. No hesitation.
Then — a sound like thunder, but twisted.
KRRRRRRAAAACK—BOOOOM!!!
The windows shook. Dust rained from the ceiling. You froze, halfway through sealing your pack. The light outside changed color — suddenly orange, flashing red.
Your gaze snapped up to the window.
A building across the street — a civilian complex — had erupted into flames. Towering blue fire licked at the sky, unnatural and blistering. The shockwave had shattered nearby glass.
You stared, heart thudding.
No...
A figure floated in the center of the inferno. His silhouette barely visible through the blazing blue light, his hair a ghostly white under the flickering flames.
Dabi.
You didn't need confirmation — the heat alone was signature. It wasn't fire. It was destruction incarnate.
Your walkie talkie sputtered again. "All stations, Code Zero-One confirmed. Enemy sighted: Touya Todoroki — Dabi. All med teams stand by for mass casualty influx."
Your breath hitched.
"That was a civilian zone..." You whispered.
The window vibrated under the shockwave. You flinched, eyes widening as blue fire erupted in the distance. Flames licked the clouds — unnaturally hot, roaring with fury. The building was already collapsing, and even from here you could hear the faint, panicked screaming.
Your earpiece clicked to life, sharp and immediate, "Lux. Do not leave your post."
Edgeshot's voice was calm, but his words were rigid. Final.
