You rolled your eyes. "Yeah, and I bet half of them are twelve."
He shrugged. "Statistically, at least a few are adults with excellent taste."
You laughed and shook your head, "I can't believe you're actually older than me somehow."
He nudged you again, a smirk tugging at his lips. "I'm young at heart, anyways, if none of those guys did it for you, maybe your heart's just saving itself."
You blinked at that, caught off guard by the sudden sincerity.
"...Saving itself for what?"
Hawks shrugged, turning his gaze toward the city. "Someone you forgot you loved. Or someone you haven't met yet."
The teasing faded for a moment, and you both sat in the warm silence, breeze tugging lightly at your hair.
"Still think I'm hotter than Edgeshot though, right?" He interrupted.
You snorted. "Edgeshot has the mysterious, broody thing going for him. You have... bird crumbs in your hair."
He immediately started patting at his head, "No I don't."
You laughed, shaking your head. "Man, I can't wait for you to actually get a girlfriend and settle down, my condolences to her."
Hawks grinned, clearly pleased with himself. "Anyway, I've been talking to Hatsume and a few other engineers. And since Endeavor owes me a couple favors... we're working on a new suit. Power-enhancing. Reinforced. Something to keep you as more than a support hero."
You blinked.
"But I'm back at UA, I'm helping Recovery Girl out with the kids. "
"Yeah," He said quietly. "But there's been talk, and truthfully the other heroes want to see you out in the streets patrolling more, they think it will give more people a peace of mind."
Your breath hitched.
"But they don't know I've lost my quirk..."
He went still.
You saw the shift in his eyes, the pause that lasted a beat too long.
"You don't need it, with this new suit... you'll still be a hero. Just in a different way."
You exhaled shakily, then leaned against him, letting your head rest on his shoulder. The wind moved gently around you, brushing your hair back as the city lights blinked below.
For a while, neither of you spoke. The city below buzzed with life again, distant sirens, car horns, streetlights painting gold over rain-washed streets.
Truth was before you unleashed your true potential in your quirk, you were a nobody to most heroes. Just another support.
But after the war, everyone saw you in a different light, but you couldn't help but wonder what would happen once they found out the truth.
That you were now quirkless.
Keigo spoke again, quieter this time.
"So, will you do it?"
"No," You murmured, your voice barely above a whisper. "I'm just not in the right headspace for that at the moment."
Keigo sighed through his nose, his hand falling from your shoulder. "Yeah no of course, that makes sense."
After a few more bites of karaage and a comfortable silence, the question you'd been avoiding finally slipped out. You couldn't help it anymore, after all, it was gnawing at the back of your mind since Aizawa first mentioned him.
