Back across the city, Ling was laughing at a rooftop bar with Junji and the mystery girl—her old uni friend from London who was visiting for a week.
Innocent.
But her phone buzzed.
Unknown Number:
video file
"I see you, baby. Do you miss me yet?"
Ling stared at it, heart thudding. Her fingers trembled.
Junji leaned in.
"You okay?"
Ling forced a smile.
"Yeah. Just some ghost from the past."
But the pit in her stomach said otherwise.
Because she knew that look in Orm's eyes.
And this time, she wasn't coming back to seduce her.
She was coming back to destroy her.
Ling's day was already chaos.
Two client calls, one malpractice complaint, and a new intern who couldn't even format a document properly.
Her temple throbbed, her inbox was a battlefield—and the only thing she wanted was twenty uninterrupted minutes of silence.
But fate had other plans.
The glass door to her office burst open with the confidence of someone who did not belong there anymore.
Orm.
Sunglasses on.
Leather jacket slung over a tank top that looked like sin.
Hair tied back like she was about to star in a fragrance ad called "Obsession by Narcissist."
Every intern in the hallway turned to stare.
The receptionist tried to speak—Orm didn't even glance at her.
She walked straight in, heels clicking like a countdown to catastrophe, and slammed the door shut behind her.
"Are you out of your goddamn mind?!" Ling shot up from her desk, panic flashing in her eyes.
But she didn't get to finish.
Orm crossed the room in seconds and grabbed her by the waist like it was still her right—and kissed her.
Hard. Brutal. Hungry.
It wasn't romantic.
It was a warning.
And Ling hated that her body didn't push her away.
"Don't flatter yourself," she said breathlessly when she finally shoved Orm back. "You're not welcome here. You're not anything to me anymore."
Orm's eyes darkened.
She leaned in, close enough to make Ling flinch.
"You post another thirst trap, smile like you're over me, touch someone else like they matter?" Orm whispered. "I'll be back. And next time, I won't stop at a kiss."
"You're insane," Ling spat.
Orm smirked, smug and devastating. "I'm in love, baby. Big difference."
