I stepped out of my apartment building into the the cool October wind. The leaves on the trees were just being to turn orange and fall off. As I walked down the streets fallen leaves crunched under my feet. I waked a good mile before finally reaching my destination.

I stood in front of the door to the drugstore and took a deep breath. I prayed no one I know is here. I pushed the door open and strolled the store until I found the isle I'd been dreading but unfortunately I had to go down. I turned and slowly walked to the end of the isle where I found a section of multi colored boxes that every teenage girl prays she wont have to buy until shes married.

Pregnancy Tests.

I was clueless on what brand to buy. I scanned the boxes until I saw a light purple box I'd seen advertised on T.V. The box said the test was 99% accurate so I figured it was a good choice. I picked the box and selected another box at random so I had two test just make sure the results were accurate.

I walked to the counter trying my best not to look at the cashier simply because I was embarrassed. What 17 year old girl can hold her head up high when buying a pregnancy test.

"That will be 7.87" The lady said

I took the money out of my purse and handed it to lady. She gave me my change and a disapproving look. I tried to shake it off but figured if a total stranger doesn't approve of me  what will my friends think of me if I am pregnant. It just hit me. Right now as I am walking home there could be a baby inside of me.

What would I do? How would I tell people? What will they think? How will they react? Can I raise a child?

All these thoughts circles through my brain. Before I knew it I was back at home. I unlocked the door and walked in. It was quiet. Mom must not be home. I walked to the kitchen to get a bottle of water when I saw a note on the counter.

"Maya-
Had to go out of town. Be back in a couple days" -Mom"

No one knows where shes going or when she'll be back. She takes off all the time with no explanation. Normally I would be mad that she isnt here but today I am glad she isnt here. She would be so disappointed in me.

After about 5 minutes I finished drinking the bottle of water. I went into the bathroom and opened the light purple box and pulled out the stick. I stared at it for a while. I cant believe I even have to take this. It was one time. But I guess thats all it takes. I opened the other box and took out another stick.

I took both tests and made sure I followed the instructions to a T. Even though all you really had to do is pee on the stick.

I had to wait 5 minutes for the results and let me just say it was the longest 5 minutes of my life. In 5 minutes my life could change forever.

I paced back and forth waiting for the timer to go off. Then I stopped and wanted to freeze time. I dont have to know. I dont want to know.  I just want to sit here and pretend I have a normal life and that this isnt happening to me. But my thoughts were interrupted by the ding of the timer.

My hands were shaking and I was sweating. I stood still for a good 30 seconds. I looked in the mirror before picking up the test. I grabbed the test not taking my eyes of the mirror. I slowly turned the test. There it was..
