It's like I'm stuck in a trance. I can't pull my eyes away from him. My brain is screaming at me to look anywhere else, but I can't seem to do it.

He is wearing a gray fitted t-shirt, which shows off his biceps and hints at some very nice abs. His dark hair looks slightly messy, like he's been running his fingers through it. The only strange thing is that he is wearing jean pants.

Why would anyone wear pants outside in the summer? It's hot outside and being a werewolf makes us naturally warm.

I feel his gaze assess me while I stare at him. I suddenly feel self conscious lying on the grass with a bunch of kids on top of me, mud covering me from head to toe, and my hair is more than likely all over the place. At least I'm not wearing white.

"What happened here?" At Cody's words I am finally able to snap out of the daze I was in. The kids get off of me and all start explaining at once.

"Sam threw..."

"...Emma ran after..."

"..said it was okay..."

"I got hit by..."

"...all out war..." I paid no attention to what they were saying as my gaze once again fell to my mate. He was staring back at me probably trying to figure out if I would run again. It was useless now because he now knew what pack I belonged in.

I snapped back out of it when I felt something drop on my head. I look up and see Sam with an innocent smile on his face.

"It slipped, I swear!" The little stinker dropped mud on my head. I quickly stood up and picked him up. I walked over to the pile of mud they made and dropped him in it gently so he wouldn't get hurt, just muddy.

"You slipped, I swear." He just grinned and ran over to the other kids. As I walked back over an idea popped in my head. Cody was trying to explain to Daniel why he couldn't go inside. My mate was talking with a couple of the younger kids. I approached Cody and tapped his shoulder.

"Yes?" He said turning around. I didn't say anything, I just grinned and flung my arms around him giving him the biggest hug and wiping as much mud as I could on him.

It was like thirteen light bulbs turned on at once and they all ran over to us to tackle us in a dog pile. Right before they reached us, I felt a strong pair of arm pull me off of Cody.

"Mine." A deep voice rumbled. I looked up and saw a pair of deep green eyes staring back at me. They held a mixture of joy and anger. I tried to pull away, but he just pulled me closer. "You're not going anywhere."

"I'm getting mud all over you." I put my hands on his chest and tried to push him away. I almost didn't want to because there is a very fine chest under that shirt.

"Don't care." He wrapped his arms around my waist so I was trapped in his arms and facing him.

From behind me, I hear a throat being cleared. I glance over my shoulder to see Cody staring at us.

"Why don't we get everyone cleaned up and then we'll talk." He walks over to the hose and starts spraying everyone down. The kids love it because it's a fun way to cool down from the hot sun.

"Grace, hose me off." I step forward to take the hose from Cody, but before I can, I'm pulled back.

"Mine." I roll my eyes and turn in his arms since he seems to refuse to let go of me.

"Dude, chill out. Would you prefer me to hose him off outside with all these children and with his clothes on, or do you prefer me to go inside and find a small private shower to clean him off in?" It probably wasn't the best thing to say as his eyes start to swirl with blackness and a low growl vibrates from his chest.
