Kabanata 49: A Promise and a Kiss

The car pulled up in front of Mark’s house, a familiar, comforting sight after a whirlwind of a night. Mark turned to Kenji, a mix of emotions swirling within him. He felt a sense of exhilaration from the Ferris wheel kiss, a flicker of anger from the encounter with the basketball team, and a growing sense of affection for the boy beside him.

“Thanks for the date,” Mark said, his voice a little hesitant.

Kenji smiled, reaching over and squeezing Mark’s hand. “Babe, yun costume, dadalhin ko bukas, okay?” he said, his eyes sparkling with mischief. “Good luck bukas, ah!”

Mark’s cheeks flushed. He had completely forgotten about the costume, and the fact that Kenji was making a special effort for him, even if it was just for the Mr. Sportsfest, made him feel warm inside.

Kenji leaned in, his lips brushing against Mark’s cheek. It was a fleeting touch, but it sent a jolt of electricity through Mark's body.

“See you tomorrow,” Kenji whispered, his voice barely audible.

Mark nodded, his heart pounding, his mind still reeling from the night's events. He wanted to say more, to ask Kenji to stay, to delve deeper into the emotions they were both exploring, but the words caught in his throat. He knew that there was a lot to unpack, a lot to understand, and he wasn’t quite ready to dive into the unknown.

He watched as Kenji’s car disappeared down the street, a sense of loneliness washing over him. But it was a good kind of loneliness, the kind that was filled with anticipation, with a sense of excitement for the next chapter of their story.

Mark walked into his house, a smile playing on his lips. He knew that tomorrow was going to be a big day, a day filled with challenges, competitions, and a sense of unease. But he also knew that with Kenji by his side, even if their "relationship" was a facade, he was ready to face anything.
