In fact, he would have only one option, Bonnie Bennett. While no longer a witch herself, she had once been one and would be the only possible connection Luka would have.

The Martin’s after all had been a small coven and rarely, if ever, reached out to other covens to make relations. Jonas had made certain to keep his children shielded from any other magic users like themselves in fear of the children being targeted.

Personally, Elijah could not fault the man for wanting to protect his young. ‘After all,’ Elijah thought adoringly as he glanced at his siblings, ‘there is not much I wouldn’t do for my siblings and now……my nephew it seems.’ Elijah’s thoughts trailed off at that, quickly scanning the square once more before his gaze landed on the object of his fascination.

Luka Martin. The boy was lazing on the grass with the younger Salvatore boy and…the doppelganger.

Now, Elijah’s curiosity was peaked as Elena Gilbert should have been long dead at this point. As far as he was aware there was no other way for one to survive such a sacrifice without the involvement of…. A smirk slowly eased its way onto Elijah’s face as his eyes immediately darted from the doppelganger and back to his warlock.

It seemed that Mr. Martin had decided to switch teams on him following the demise of his father and sister. While Elijah could understand the betrayal from an outward viewpoint, he refused to allow it when he required the boy’s services.

Luka would help him find his little nephew or he would find himself joining his family in the sweet embrace of death. Elijah, while normally one for allowances, refused to provide any at this moment. Not when Damon’s well being lay so uncertain before him.

Niklaus may have seemed to care for him when they had engaged in their altercation; however, Elijah knew his brother could prove to be quite the convincing actor.

Damon could be safe with him or Niklaus could be plotting how to rid himself of the very being he sees as a weakness. It was not as if he hadn’t locked his siblings up for that very same reason in the past. The moment he thought they were incapable of defending themself or him, he had them locked away not to be seen again until he deemed fit.

Elijah refused for such a thing to happen to Damon, he refused to allow the boy to be tossed away as if he was just an irrelevant detail in his brother's schemes.

“Elijah? ELIJAH?” a hand waved in front of his face while a voice shouted in his ear, yanking him from his musings and pulling his eyes free from the group he had been watching. Glancing down, he stared into the concerned, annoyed, and frustrated faces of his younger and older siblings.

“Who exactly are we retrieving? You never informed us as to who this is.” Rebekah shook Damon’s picture exasperated at this point from being ignored for so long with no explanation as to why. “That……” Elijah trailed off, words escaping him as he thought of the best way to convey the truth to them.

Would they accept another family member? Especially one who had been claimed by Niklaus? Maybe, maybe not.

Lying to them however, was not an option. When they found Damon, he would need them to stand with him in protecting the boy from Niklaus. The only way he could ensure they did so was if he worded it just right.

Clearing his throat, he tried to explain again, “That is our nephew Damon. It seems Niklaus claimed him around the time of Marcellus.” Elijah quickly moved to continue explaining as he saw Kol’s face twist into a frown. “I saw the way Niklaus reacted to the boy, Damon. He was protective of Marcellus but he was also lenient to the point of the boy's detriment. With Damon…it’s different, darker. While he’s protective, he’s also…possessive…I would say. If we don’t retrieve him then,” Elijah breathed deeply, his eyes leaving his siblings forms to land on the Martin boy who lay laughing with the others in the grass.
