Chapter 16

Andrew's POV

I yawned staring out my balcony while stretching my tense muscles as I began readying for bed. Cassandra had stayed much later than any of us had planned. In the end, both Zach and her decided to sleep downstairs in one of the guest rooms. I didn't mind it of course, they were welcome here anytime.

Originally this house was meant to be a Pack house for anyone who wanted to simply be away. It was why the house was so huge and had so many rooms. In the end though, people decided to buy their own houses and become independent.

I was glad Meredith seemed to be on good terms with Cassandra . They spoke for hours and even when Meredith seemed completely exhausted, she had insisted on continuing.

It brought a smile to my face knowing she was making a new friend.

I turned my head to see Val lying peacefully on the side of my bed. She seemed to develop a fondness towards me even when I had done nothing to deserve it. I only wished Meredith would do the same.

"What an interesting night you planned." I heard an amused voice say from the doorway.

I snapped my head towards the door quickly, feeling my adrenaline kick in. It quickly disappeared when I noticed Meredith casually leaning against the doorframe. I had not heard or even felt Meredith's presence near me which caused me to frown.

"You're not sleeping yet?" I questioned, my concern building.

When Meredith had arrived she seemed deathly tired. I had expected her to lock herself in her room and sleep the night off. It was a surprise to see her anywhere near me considering the way she had constantly avoided me these past few days.

Meredith shrugged, "My shower woke me up."

It was then that my eyes traveled down Meredith's form. She was wearing black sleeping pants and a grey tank top with a red robe lazily wrapped around her form. Her hair still had small pieces that were still wet but other than that it was dry. Her face was pure, no dirt or makeup in sight. Her injuries had already healed, much to my relief, and she no longer looked to be exhausted.

"You should still rest. You seemed to have a tiring trip." I commented lightly. I didn't want Meredith to know I was curious about the trip but I was. I wanted to know what had happened to cause her to come back in such a state.

Meredith smirked, walking over towards my bed. She didn't bother asking before popping down next to Val. "It was indeed tiring." Was all she said.

I nodded my head, deciding not to push the subject. I cautiously walked towards my bed, not wanting Meredith to believe I had 'other plans'. I knew, even though she acted as though she wasn't, that she was exhausted. The slight bags under her eyes was a tall-tell sign.

Meredith didn't even glance at me when I gently laid on the other side of the bed. I made sure to keep enough distance that she would comfortable. Although my Wolf wanted to have her in my arms, we both knew not to push it.

Just as I got comfortably, Meredith's eyes snapped towards mine. I froze, feeling as though I pushed her boundaries.

"If you want, I can sleep in another room." I offered. I honestly didn't mind, the house had plenty of bedrooms and even the couch itself was a comfortable place to sleep.

Meredith only shrugged a shoulder. "This is your bed, do as you please."

Even though she said this, I kept my hands closely by my side while I stayed by the edge of the bed. I was comfortable enough to sleep, but I highly doubted I would be doing any sleeping with Meredith here.
