The Date: Part Two

Start from the beginning

She doesn't find humour in my statement.

" Do not count me in your social bubble, I didn't have a say "

She tries to play her reply in annoyance and sarcasm but I catch a glimpse of her little smile before it disappears.

" No, you did not, but don't they say we create our luck? "

" I can also say the same for bad karma " she smirks, taking a bite of her strawberry.

" Do they know I exist? "

" Up until that moment, no not entirely. If you recalled their faces only the one on your top left knew of you but not in so many details " I say

However, his knowledge of her was not voluntary on my behalf and was solely based on his prying tendencies.

" Oh, the one that looks just like you? But A more pale dead, and prettier version "

I stop chewing my piece and lock eyes with her, unblinking trying to sustain the agitated demon that rests inside me.

" I am kidding, " She says shortly after

" not " I hear under her breath.

The glass rim may be covering the majority of her face but that smirk is hard to miss. She knows when and how to push my buttons. I take a big gulp of my whiskey to wash away my annoyance.

" I'll tell him that's how you view him, he'll find the amusement in your impression " Ignoring every bone in my muscle that wanted to tell her to revoke that statement if she enjoyed having a voice box.

The conversation gradually exceeds after that. I tell her a little bit about my family and our values and she does the same, sparing details of her father of course. She never once mentions him, but talks fondly of her siblings and her mother whom I'm rather intrigued to meet, seeing we share the same level of cleanliness.

Her eyes gleam when she talks of them, I can tell it's a life she misses dearly, whether my influence had been added or not the outcome still would have been the same. Her running away from a life she doesn't want and is not even able to share a life with those she cares for. At least there's me now, and she soon will no longer have to live in fear and shed away from the real world. Under my rule, I'll give her the life she deserves.

The date I had been so hesitant and cautious about is going rather smoothly and I'm not sure I want our time here to end. I can see the smile lines on her face form as I tell rather unpleasantly funny jokes I find humorous, while she finds pleasure in mocking my taste. I don't mind that she's laughing at me instead of with me, her gentle laugh fills the air around us, simmering the thick-cut tension.

I find myself allowing her to open her second bottle of wine, but only so I can introduce her to some fine Moscato. I rather her indulge in a wine as sweet and succulent as her body, so she can have a taste of the hunger and undying thirst I get from revenging her folds.

She takes a sip of my recommendation: Moscato D'Asti, a fine Italian wine I had stored in the mini wine cellar next to the fridge.

By her surprised and delighted expression, I can see her taste buds have been elevated. She takes another sip, a larger one this time and now I'm beginning to worry that this may not have been my wisest idea.

A petite, intoxicated Evelina with anger issues and quick palm on a boat? Not a good combination. The anger issues and quick palm alone are fighting duos that don't need to be intensified any further.

The banter like the glowing sun, passes smoothly into the night. We realise we have much more in common than we had thought. From miscellaneous facts like movie genres and cuisine choices to the more educational topics of degrees and career interests. We both share the same love for thrillers in both the movie sense and business end. She explained to me how much she had wanted to become a lawyer and was enrolled in a private law school for it as well before everything went crumbling down. She didn't go into details about what specifically happened that made her life turn into this extensive game of cat and mouse. I didn't press her for any details either, knowing when the time was right she'd tell me and also because this night had surpassed any outcome I had, and doubled it times max.
