Reason to love

Part 2

August POV
Taking my things out my locker I make my way to the exit of the workers locker room when Carol stops me " August baby come here" she says motioning me into her office Carols one co managers here at Martins she gave me a chance when nobody else would she's also my mentor she's been looking out for me since she found me sitting by a homeless shelter two blocks from here "take a seat Hun " she said pulling my chair out walking behind her desk taking her glasses off "now tell me what's been going on I see your always tired many of the staff tells me they've seen you sleeping in the locker room during your breaks and you're even more angrier than usual now tell me what's wrong ?" She said opening her lunch bag sliding a container to me , I already know what these are her home made cookies I can smell the chocolate chips now " sorry about earlier " I said talking low putting my head down " it's okay baby I understand your situation just tell me " she said making me look up for once in my life I've never heard that .

Growing up I had a good life but when my brother Mel died man my life took for a spin ....shot killed cold in the streets of New Orleans he ain't get no love from the cops nobody got caught then me dealing , mama kicking me out , me living on the streets ,and me sexin' women just for a place to lay my head and food to eat that's why I have my strong attitude now like I just don't give a fuck life just goes and I move along with it . " well ..... I'm about 2 months behind on rent ... I've been saving my money for college and I go to the library after work to try to catch up on school ... And -"
She cut me off  " August Sweetheart what do you want to go to college for ? " she asked opening the container handing me a cookie " well .. I'm not sure yet I know I want to go for something but I have to worry about getting the money for it first " I said chuckling a little rubbing the back of my neck " tell you what I'll pay for your apartment for 3 months my father was wealthy so I'll use some of his inheritance you just have to put food in the fridge if not I'll be willing to help you with that too  secondly I use to be a teacher myself in my younger days so I'll help you get your diploma , last but not least when your ready for college let me know I'll pay for you ." She said taking my hand in hers . Widening my eyes I stare at her never have I had someone care about me so much she had to be a guardian angel but I couldn't let her do all that for me only reason she was doing it because she's feeling sorry for me .

" I'm sorry I can't let you do that I'm not some charity case I don't need no help from nobody ya heard me ? " I say standing up " August sit your behind down. " she says and I slowly follow her directions "now your not some charity case child I care about you like your my own son I'm willing to help you because I see potential in you and you're trying to earn your money the legal way . Not out here selling drugs like these other busters in the street now meet me after work tomorrow so we can work on your diploma if your not here I'll find you , you hear me ? " she said standing up putting her hands on her hips "yes ma'am" I said swallowing a bit of spit in my mouth wow , I'm so speechless " you may leave now , take the cookies with you " she says sitting back down at her desk putting her glasses back on . Getting up I grab the cookies and start to walk out " thank you ....for everything " I say turning back around  and tell her then walk out making my way up the street boy what a day .
