Aiah's POV

I couldn't wait to see Mikha.

After a long day at work, all I wanted was to go home, hold her in my arms, and celebrate our first month together. I knew she had something planned-Sheena and Stacey were acting weird the whole day, dropping hints that Mikha had prepared something special.

I smiled to myself as I drove, excitement bubbling in my chest.

Mikha.

The love of my life.

The woman I lost once and was lucky enough to get back.

I was never going to let her go again.

Just as I was about to take the turn leading to our place, my phone rang.

Adrian.

I hesitated before answering.

"Adrian?"

"Aiah, can we talk? It's important."

I frowned. Adrian and I had been good friends for years, but lately, I felt like there was something... off about him. He was more persistent, always finding ways to be alone with me.

I sighed. "Adrian, can this wait? I really need to-"

"Please, Aiah. It won't take long."

There was something in his voice that made me stop.

Something urgent.

Something desperate.

I exhaled sharply. "Fine. Five minutes."

I pulled over to the side of the road, where Adrian's car was already waiting.

The moment I stepped inside, I could already tell-this wasn't just a talk.

His grip on the steering wheel was tight, his jaw clenched. His eyes were filled with something I couldn't quite understand.

"What's going on?" I asked cautiously.

He let out a humorless chuckle. "I'm an idiot, aren't I?"

I blinked. "What?"

"For thinking I still had a chance," he muttered under his breath before turning to face me. "Aiah... are you really happy with her?"

My stomach twisted.

This again.

I already made it clear-Mikha is the one I love.

I sighed. "Adrian-"

"I love you, Aiah."

My heart stopped.

"And I know I'm too late. But I can't pretend anymore. I don't want to."

I shook my head, swallowing hard. "Adrian, you are too late. I love Mikha. I chose her."

"But does she make you happy?" he asked, his voice laced with something unreadable.

I narrowed my eyes. "Of course, she does. Why would you even-"

Before I could finish, Adrian leaned in-too fast, too close.

And then his lips were on mine.

My eyes widened in shock.

I pushed him away instantly, my breath shaky, my heart racing.

"What the hell, Adrian?!"

He stared at me, regret flashing across his face. "I-"

But I didn't wait for him to explain. I grabbed the door handle and stepped out of the car, my hands trembling.

"Mikha is waiting for me," I said, my voice cold.
