"Aiah, if you don't come with me, I will sit here and annoy you until you give in."
I narrow my eyes at her. "You wouldn't dare."
She leans forward, placing her elbows on my desk, her face inches from mine. "Try me."
I swear under my breath, rubbing my temple. "Why are all my friends like this?"
Sheena smirks. "Because you secretly love us?"
I sigh in defeat. There's no winning against her (or Stacey, for that matter).
"Fine. One hour. No more."
She fist-pumps the air. "YES! Let's go!"
I shake my head as I grab my blazer. I don't have time for distractions-but apparently, distractions always have time for me.
The moment we step out of my office, I already regret agreeing.
Sheena is practically skipping as we head to the parking lot, her energy levels refusing to drop below a hundred percent. She throws an arm around my shoulder like we're college students again, not two grown women with actual responsibilities.
"Alam mo, napaka-seryoso mo pa rin," she teases as we slide into my car. "Kahit noon pa, parang ikaw na 'yung CEO ng buong mundo."
I roll my eyes, starting the engine. "And yet, here you are, making me waste company time."
Sheena gasps, clutching her chest. "Grabe! Hindi naman ito waste! This is called self-care. Besides, masama sa kalusugan ang puro trabaho."
I glance at her. "Sabi ng taong huling natulog nang maaga noong high school pa tayo."
She laughs, not even denying it. "Eh kasi naman, life is too short to sleep early! Pero seryoso, Aiah, minsan kailangan mo rin mag-enjoy."
I focus on the road, ignoring the way she keeps sneaking glances at me. I know that look. She's up to something.
"What?" I finally ask.
Sheena grins. "Wala lang. Iniisip ko lang... sino kaya 'yung iniisip mo kanina sa office?"
I grip the steering wheel a little tighter. "Sheena."
She gasps dramatically. "Oh my God. Tama ako! May iniisip ka!"
I exhale sharply. "Drop it."
"Ay, defensive! Sino kaya 'to? Ex mo? O baka... 'yung the one that got away?" she winks.
I glare at her. "Sheena, I swear-"
She laughs, holding up her hands in surrender. "Okay, okay! Hindi na kita aasarin... for now."
I shake my head, but despite myself, a small smirk tugs at my lips.
Some things never change.
The moment we arrive at the restaurant, Sheena practically jumps out of the car before I can even turn off the engine.
"Aiah, bilisan mo! Baka maubusan tayo ng Wagyu!" she exclaims, already heading toward the entrance.
I take a deep breath, rubbing my temples before stepping out. "Sheena, it's an unlimited restaurant. Hindi 'yun mauubos."
She turns around, walking backward while grinning. "Alam ko! Pero baka maubusan tayo ng best table!"
