The car ride home was silent. Y/N stared out of the window, her mind racing with the words Lady Kim had spoken.
"If you truly love Taehyung, then you should consider what's best for him. And that might not be you."
The words haunted her.
Taehyung had defended her, chosen her, but for how long? Would his love be enough to withstand the pressure from his family?
"Stop overthinking." His voice was gentle, but there was a hint of frustration.
"I'm not," she lied.
Taehyung sighed. "I know my family, Y/N. They'll try to manipulate you, make you feel like you're not enough. But don't let them win."
She turned to him, searching his face. "And what if they're right? What if—"
"Don't." His grip on the steering wheel tightened. "Don't doubt yourself. Don't doubt us."
She wanted to believe him, but the nagging voice in her head wouldn't shut up.
As they pulled into their driveway, Y/N felt a strange sense of unease. Something was off.
Taehyung must have sensed it too because he immediately reached for her hand. "Stay close to me."
They entered the house together, but the moment they stepped inside, a voice cut through the air—one they hadn't expected to hear again.
"Welcome home, lovebirds."
Luna.
Y/N froze.
The woman who had tried to destroy her, who had manipulated Taehyung, was standing in their living room as if she belonged there.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Taehyung's voice was ice-cold.
Luna smirked. "Relax, Tae. I just came to talk."
"You lost that right when you lied about Y/N," he snapped.
Luna's expression hardened, but then she sighed dramatically. "Fine, I'll get straight to the point. I have information. Something you'll want to hear."
Y/N crossed her arms. "We don't want anything from you."
Luna tilted her head. "Are you sure about that? Because this concerns Taehyung's family."
Taehyung frowned. "What are you talking about?"
Luna took a step closer, lowering her voice. "Your parents have been planning something behind your back. They're not going to stop at just trying to separate you two."
Y/N felt her heart skip a beat.
Taehyung's jaw clenched. "Explain."
Luna sighed, as if she was doing them a favor. "They're looking for a legal loophole to annul your marriage. They've already spoken to a lawyer."
Silence.
Y/N's breath caught in her throat.
Taehyung's entire body went rigid. "They wouldn't."
Luna gave him a pitying look. "You know they would."
Y/N felt like the ground beneath her was crumbling. She had expected resistance from his parents, but this? They wanted to erase their marriage?
Taehyung turned to Y/N, his expression unreadable. "I won't let this happen."
Luna smirked. "I thought you'd say that. That's why I have a proposal."
Y/N narrowed her eyes. "We don't make deals with snakes."
Luna chuckled. "Fair enough. But think about it. I can help you stay together, or I can walk away and let things fall apart."
Taehyung exhaled sharply. "What do you want?"
Luna stepped closer, looking Y/N directly in the eyes. "I want a favor. From her."
Y/N scoffed. "Why would I ever help you?"
"Because," Luna's smile was deadly, "I know something you don't. And trust me, once you hear it, you'll have no choice but to say yes."
Y/N stared at Luna, her fists clenching at her sides. She had no reason to believe anything that came out of her mouth. But the way Luna smirked—so confident, so sure of herself—made Y/N uneasy.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Taehyung snapped, his patience running thin.
Luna's gaze flickered toward him before settling back on Y/N. "I'll tell you, but only if Y/N agrees to my deal."
Y/N's jaw tightened. "I don't make deals with people like you."
Luna let out a soft chuckle. "That's exactly why you should. See, I don't care about your pride, Y/N. I care about what I can get out of this."
Taehyung stepped forward, his presence towering over Luna. "You have five seconds to speak before I throw you out."
Luna crossed her arms. "Alright, alright. You want the truth?" She tilted her head toward Y/N. "Your parents didn't just abandon you in France."
Y/N felt like she had been slapped.
"What?" The word barely came out, her voice trembling.
Luna smirked. "Oh, you didn't know? Poor thing. They didn't just leave you. They sold you."
Silence.
Taehyung's entire body went rigid beside her. Y/N's breath hitched as she tried to process Luna's words.
"You're lying," she whispered.
Luna raised an eyebrow. "Am I? Then why don't you ask them yourself? Oh wait—you tried, didn't you? And they ignored you."
Y/N felt like the room was spinning. No. This couldn't be true.
Taehyung stepped in front of Y/N, shielding her. "Enough." His voice was like thunder. "Get out."
Luna sighed dramatically. "You're no fun, Taehyung. But fine, I'll leave. Just remember, Y/N..." She leaned in, whispering in a sickeningly sweet voice. "The truth always finds its way out. Whether you like it or not."
She turned and strolled out of the house, her heels clicking against the floor as if she hadn't just dropped a bomb on Y/N's world.
As soon as the door shut behind her, Y/N's legs gave out.
"Y/N!" Taehyung caught her before she hit the ground, pulling her into his arms.
Her body shook violently, and she gripped his shirt like it was the only thing keeping her from falling apart.
"It's not true," she mumbled, trying to convince herself. "She's just trying to mess with me. She's lying."
Taehyung held her tighter. "I'll find out the truth."
She pulled away slightly, looking into his eyes. "What if it is true?"
He cupped her face gently. "Then we'll deal with it together."
Y/N swallowed hard. She didn't know what scared her more—the possibility that Luna was lying, or the possibility that she wasn't.
But either way, she had to find out.
And she had to be ready for whatever came next.
