It was raining cats and dogs here in Lahore. The sky was covered with greyish black and dark clouds which were scattered all over the horizon since the morning. And soon they overpowered the sun, giving an appearance of the night in the day.

Seeing the temper of the weather, she decided to skip the office that day. The rainy weather always made her nostalgic and wistful. A sad feeling lurked in her heart and she couldn't describe this sensation at all. Her mood became sour and melancholic. And she knew the reason. It was that rainy day which had jolted her whole life upside down. However, she never wanted to think about it at all. The past as something that should be put to rest by everyone. And a past as disgusting, irksome, and hurtful as hers should really be buried under miles and layers of soil.

After the breakfast, she came back to her room. She had a meeting scheduled with a textile company. Her team was working with them for their inauguration ceremony where they would do the job of interior designing. Many minutes hadn't passed since she was done with the meeting when her niece Eshal practically barged into her room. She ran towards her and linked her small arms around her neck.

"Phupho, it's raining outside. Let's enjoy it," she chimed in excitement.

Rahmeen smiled at her and pulled her in front of her. "Baby, the weather is changing. You can catch the cold if you will get wet in the rain."

Eshal pouted. "But I want to enjoy the rain. Aliyan is already in the garden. I am here to get you so that we can play together."

Rahmeen's eyes widened at this information. Aliyan was Eshal's twin brother and he was way more naughty and energetic than his sister. She knew that this young boy would be up to any mischief; hence, she didn't waste any chance to follow Eshal downstairs. Her sister-in-law and the twins' mother, Nisha, had already left for her clinic in the morning before there was any rain. And her brother Ruhaan too was in his office. Most of the time, when Rahmeen hadn't started her official job, she was more than glad to look after her brothers' kids as their company alleviated her spirit and acted as a distraction for her.

They were a distraction from the horrible memories of her past. These kids surely became her relief after spending a lonely life for more than two decades of her life.

As expected, Aliyan was running fast in the garden, playing football by himself. His clothes had stains of dirt on them but he didn't seem to care about it.

When his gaze found the figures of his twin sister and Aunt, he left his play and scrambled towards them. He jumped up and down enthusiastically.

"Phupho you are here. Let's play," he announced and then held her hand.

Rahmeen didn't mind getting wet this time. These kids were definitely like her own and she loved them to bits. That was the time she enjoyed so much once again.

They played running after, football and cricket. Their clothes got wet. Then, there was a time when they were breathless because of constant running, and they lay down on the ground as the droplets of rain continued spraying over them.

Rahmeen was feeling herself in some other world when she heard footsteps and then the shouting of her nephew and niece.

"Mama...Mama..." Aliyan murmured and that was when she opened her eyes.

Why Nisha was back so early? Rahmeen got up and then what was in front of her stiffened her body. Her jaw dropped seeing who was beside Nisha. His reaction wasn't any different than hers.

"Izmir Raza!" She thought in her heart because she couldn't say it.
