Caught in Each Other's Games
Beomgyu had been causing too much trouble at his old school lately. One day, he got a text from his dad asking him to come downstairs for a talk. When he did, his parents dropped a bombshell, they wanted him to transfer...
Ever since the party, Beomgyu couldn't stop thinking about the kiss. It wasn't just the kiss itself—it was the way Yeonjun had looked at him, the way his touch had lingered just a second too long. It consumed him, the memory of it replaying in his mind like a broken record. And, to Beomgyu's dismay, he found himself craving more.
Even Huening Kai had picked up on it.
"Beomgyu hyunggg," Kai teased, stretching out his words in that sing-song voice of his. "It's so obvious that something's going on between you and Yeonjun hyung!"
Beomgyu groaned, burying his face in his hands. He hated how transparent he was when it came to Yeonjun. "Kai, drop it," he mumbled, but the younger boy was relentless.
"Come onnnn, just spill! I can tell something happened at the party," Kai pressed, his eyes sparkling with curiosity.
Beomgyu sighed, knowing there was no escaping this. "Fine," he muttered, sitting up straight and giving Kai a look. "But you have to promise not to make a scene."
Kai nodded eagerly, and Beomgyu hesitated for a moment before blurting it out. "That night at the party... Yeonjun kissed me."
Kai's reaction was instant. "WHAT? REALLY?!" he practically shouted, jumping up from his seat in shock. The entire classroom turned to look at them, and Beomgyu hissed, pulling Kai back down by his arm.
"Shhh, you idiot!" Beomgyu whispered harshly, glancing around as Kai sheepishly bowed his head at the startled students.
"Sorry, sorry," Kai muttered before leaning closer. "But seriously what?! He kissed you? What happened after that?"
Beomgyu shrugged, feigning nonchalance despite the fluttering in his chest. "He said it makes him jealous whenever I interact with other guys. And then... he just left. Like nothing happened."
Kai blinked, processing the information. "Ohhh, so that's why you've been acting all weird lately. But, Beomgyu hyung, quick question... do you like him?"
"Him? Yeonjun?" Beomgyu repeated, as if the answer wasn't glaringly obvious.
"Yeah, duh. Who else?" Kai said with an eye roll.
"I... I don't know. Maybe? I think so?" Beomgyu stammered, his cheeks flushing.
Kai raised an eyebrow. "Hyung, come on. It's written all over your face. You like him. The way you blush whenever you think about the kiss? It's practically a confession in itself."
Beomgyu's silence was enough of an answer.

Meanwhile, with Yeonjun...
Yeonjun sat slumped in his chair in the music room, staring blankly at the piano keys in front of him. For days now, he had been trying and failing to figure out what the hell was going on in his head.
"You're spacing out again," Soobin said, sitting across from him and watching with a knowing smirk.
"Am not," Yeonjun muttered, though it was obvious he wasn't fooling anyone.
"Right. So the fact that you've been moody all week has nothing to do with a certain someone named Beomgyu?" Soobin teased, leaning back in his chair.
At the mention of Beomgyu's name, Yeonjun froze. His fingers hovered over the piano keys, and Soobin grinned.
"Gotcha," Soobin said smugly. "So what's the deal? You guys had a fight or something?"
"No," Yeonjun said quickly, too quickly. He groaned, rubbing a hand over his face. "It's just... complicated."
Soobin tilted his head. "Complicated how?"
Yeonjun hesitated, the words catching in his throat. He didn't even know how to explain how he felt a pull toward Beomgyu that he couldn't ignore, how the sight of him laughing with someone else made his chest tighten uncomfortably, how kissing him at the party had felt right in a way Yeonjun wasn't ready to admit.
"He's just so... frustrating," Yeonjun said finally, though it felt like a weak explanation. "He drives me insane."
Soobin chuckled. "That sounds an awful lot like someone who's falling for someone else."
Yeonjun shot him a glare, but Soobin just shrugged. "Hey, I'm just calling it like I see it. You clearly like him, Yeonjun. So what's stopping you from doing something about it?"
Yeonjun didn't respond, his mind swirling with conflicting thoughts.
_______
Later that day...
As Beomgyu walked home after school, his conversation with Kai replayed in his mind. Did he like Yeonjun? It was a question he had been trying to avoid, but now, he couldn't ignore it any longer.
He stopped in his tracks, staring up at the sky as he let out a frustrated sigh. "This is so stupid," he muttered to himself.
And yet, his heart told him otherwise.
At the same time, Yeonjun sat in his room, staring at his phone. His thumb hovered over Beomgyu's name in his contact list. He wanted to text him, to say something or anything but the words wouldn't come.
Finally, he set his phone down with a groan, burying his face in his hands. "I'm so screwed," he mumbled.
Unbeknownst to either of them, both boys were feeling the same thing: a desperate yearning they weren't ready to admit, tangled in a web of uncertainty and unspoken feelings.
And the game between them was far from over.
