Author's POV

Beomgyu lay stretched across his bed, scrolling aimlessly through his phone, feeling completely unbothered. He was usually up for anything such as, parties, hookups, late-night thrills. With his good looks, charm, and the kind of money that meant he got what he wanted, he didn't have to try hard. And yet, lately, everything had been...boring. He sighed, tossing his phone aside as he wondered if there was anyone out there who could actually keep his attention.

Just as he was slipping into his usual boredom, his phone buzzed again. His dad.

________

**Old man 👴**

Choi Beomgyu

Your mom and I need to talk to you.

"What does he want now?" Beomgyu muttered, rolling his eyes. He dragged himself out of bed, ruffled his hair into something that looked decent enough, and made his way downstairs, already guessing this wouldn't be good.

"Yes, Dad?" he asked,  leaning against the doorway, flashing his best "innocent son" look.

His father looked at him with a no-nonsense stare. "You're switching schools next week."

"What?" Beomgyu's eyes narrowed. "Are you serious?"

"You heard me."

"What's this about now? I haven't done anything...too bad," Beomgyu added with a smirk knowing damn well what he have been doing.

"Enough, Choi. We've gotten complaints about your grades and...other behaviors," his dad said sighing. "This time, take it seriously."

Beomgyu bit back a laugh. Sure, he'd had a little too much fun at his last school, but that was just him. He knew he was good-looking, wealthy, and had a charm that people found hard to resist. Why not enjoy it? Still, a part of him wasn't surprised. He'd been in and out of trouble so often that he figured his parents were to make him switch schools eventually.

But maybe this wasn't such a bad thing. 'Might actually be a chance to shake things up,' he thought. 'Maybe I'll find someone there who's worth my time.'

"Fine," he replied with a shrug, turning on his heel and heading back upstairs. "Whatever."

He flopped onto his bed, staring up at the ceiling with a smirk. "New school, new people. Let's see if there's anyone there who can keep up with me."

______

Monday morning came around faster than he'd hoped. Beomgyu adjusted his uniform, making sure it looked effortless but stylish, and stepped out of the car his parents had insisted on sending him in. He took in the sight of the new school with a mix of boredom and intrigue.

As he walked through the hallways, he noticed that people's eyes were already on him, sizing him up. He shot a few of them his signature smirk, watching as some of them blushed and quickly looked away. This was one of the things he loved about being the "new guy" in a place like this.

But then he noticed a group of students by the lockers who didn't seem impressed. At the center of them stood a tall guy with dark hair and a confident, almost cocky smile. He met Beomgyu's gaze with a look that was equal parts curiosity and amusement. This guy looked like he had the same energy as Beomgyu, someone who knew exactly how good he looked and wasn't afraid to own it.

"Interesting," Beomgyu murmured, letting his eyes linger on the guy.

The guy caught on quickly, striding over to Beomgyu with an easy smile, hands casually in his pockets. "You must be the new kid," he said, a hint of a smirk playing on his lips.

"Guess I'm already famous." Beomgyu replied, with a grin matching his tone. "And you are?"

"Yeonjun," he replied smoothly. "Most popular guy around here, if you haven't heard." He gave a playful shrug, as if it was a title he wore casually. Two of his friends lingered nearby, watching them exchange with amused expressions.

Beomgyu chuckled, not one to be intimidated. "Most popular, huh? Guess you won't mind a little competition will you, Yeonjun?"

Yeonjun tilted his head, looking intrigued. "Competition?" His smile was playful, his eyes darling. "You think you're ready for that?"

Beomgyu stepped closer, letting his gaze linger just a second too long. "Breaking hearts is kinda my thing. Think you can keep up?"

A flicker of surprise crossed Yeonjun's face, quickly replaced by his usual confident grin, "I like the confidence," he replied smoothly. He looked Beomgyu up and down, clearly interested. "Guess we'll find out if you're just talk."

Beomgyu chuckled, unbothered. "Oh, I'm a lot more than talk."

"Then let's see it." Yeonjun smirked, his eyes dancing with mischief. "Come on. I'll give you a tour of the school," Yeonjun gestured down the hallway. "Can't have the new kid get lost on his first day now, can we?" Yeonjun continue with chuckle.

"It's Beomgyu, for your information," he replied shooting him a look. "And I don't get lost."

"Oh, we'll see about that," Yeonjun shot back, clearly enjoying himself.

Beomgyu then started to follow him, falling into step beside him as Yeonjun pointed out different areas of the school. The other students in the hallway stared openly, some whispering, clearly surprised to see Yeonjun so openly welcoming someone new. His friends trailed behind, giving each other knowing looks as if they sensed a rivalry brewing.

"So," Yeonjun said after a beat, glancing over with that ever-present smirk, "why the transfer?"

Beomgyu leaned in, dropping his voice just enough to make Yeonjun pause. "Guess the teachers at my old school weren't ready for someone with my...energy." His grin was bold, knowing.

Yeonjun's eyes flashed with amusement. "Yeah? And what kind of energy is that?"

"The kind that keeps people on their toes." Beomgyu's eyes narrowed playfully, not looking away. "Some can't handle it."

Yeonjun tilted his head, considering him. "Well, around here, we like a little excitement." He pushed, giving Beomgyu a once-over. "Maybe you'll bring that."

Beomgyu grinned. "Oh, I plan to make things a lot more fun." His gaze lingered on Yeonjun, a teasing spark in his eyes.

Just then, the bell rang, echoing through the hallways, snapping them back to reality. Yeonjun nodded down another hallway, smirk still in place. "Homeroom's down that way. Don't get lost on your first day, Choi."

Beomgyu scoffed, giving him a light shove. "Trust me, Yeonjun, I know exactly where I am going." He turned away, glancing back with a sly smile before disappearing down the hall.

"Guess I'll be sticking around," Beomgyu muttered to himself, as he walked down the hallway, he could still feel Yeonjun's gaze on him, a thrill running through him that hadn't hit him in ages. This school and Yeonjun was about to become his new playground.
