Brinley sighs. She stands up and begins to walk out of the room.
"Brinley! Where are you going?" River asks.
"I'm going to tell Elspeth and Cole about this. If I'm in, they're in too." Brinley stops. "By the way, who are you?"
I look down. "My name is Zariah. I'm the leader of this guild, and I go by 1234. Here's some advice: don't call me Zariah."
"Advice taken," Brinley says, "But here's some advice for you: don't call me Chloe."
"Advice considered," I acknowledge her.
Brinley walks away. River catches up to Brinley, closing the door behind her.
"Welcome aboard, Brinley. You're the forty-third person to join. Number 43, make me proud," I say. I walk out of the room, the failed invention still on the table, waiting to go to the junkyard.
