"But his mother-"

Vihaan caught her eye and glared at her, his eyes merciless, "He is my son. I will be permanently taking him in."

"Y-Yes s-sir," Ria stammered.

"Great! Get the document ready and sent to the hospital within the next hour. We'll send you the location." Roman said, clapping his hands.

Ria nodded her head and scrambled away, happy to get away from this place.

"Vansh, let's go," Vihaan ordered, standing up from his crouched position.

He was trying to adjust to the fact that his child had been abused. His son, who he had raised with so much love, had been tortured. He swore he'd bring hell into everyone's life who had dared to hurt a single hair of his Vansh.

Vansh cowered, pushing himself onto the couch, he was scared of these men. They were tall and so big. And big men always hurt him.

"Vansh," Vihaan repeated, this time firmly. "Stand up."

Vansh's body responded to the command without his consent and he found himself climbing off the couch, though he found himself on the floor the next second. He cried out in pain, holding onto his ribs, last night's beating had left him miserable.

"Vansh," Roman called out in worry, reaching his arms to pick him up but Vihaan beat him to it, by hoisting Vansh into his arms gently, trying his best to ignore the flinch he witnessed.

Vihaan stilled, his child barely weighed anything. He did not want to think what his son had gone through. He had never expected a child who was in his mothers care to face these situations.

His train of thoughts broke when Roman said, "Let's get him to the hospital."

Vihaan nodded, "Call the hospital and ask them to have a room and a specialised doctor ready."

He carried Vansh to his car and gently lowered him into the passenger seat, he didn't miss the way Vansh was cautiously examining him, looking for hints of Vihaan randomly attacking him. It broke his heart, he had failed to protect his son from the monsters out in the world.

"It's okay, I'm taking you to the hospital to get the injuries treated," Vihaan said.

Vansh lowered his eyes, staring at his lap, he wasn't aware of anything but that Vihaan was his father. The man he had wanted to meet but over the years, he'd lost any hope. His mother told him that he had abandoned Vansh because he was a disgrace.

Vihaan climbed into the driver's seat and pulled out of the driveway, keeping the speed to average for once, he'd never cared before but now he had a son he had to look after.

"Ansh,"

Vansh glanced up, confused, who was Ansh?

"It's your nickname. I used to call you this when you were a baby, so small in my hands." Vihaan clarified, his voice devoid of any affection.

Vansh, still confused, lowered his eyes. He doesn't remember seeing this man before. But then, he was a baby when he'd last seen him, so how could he remember him?

"Who did this to you?" Vihaan probed, taking a left turn from the roundabout and taking notice of Roman's BMW behind him.

Vansh stiffened, fidgeting with his worn-out trousers. How could he trust this random man, even though he was his father? He could use the information against him.

"Vansh," Vihaan warned. "I only want to help you. Those people who harmed you were wrong. No child ever deserves that. Tell me who it was so that the police can punish them."
