Elsewhere
On desolate plains of gray dust and rock, a luminous purple vortex swirled several inches above the ground. A sneaker stepped through the portal and onto powdery ground, raising a small grey cloud on impact.
Exiting through the portal, Y/n put his other foot on the ground and swiveled his head around, scouting the area for any threats. But his alertness turned into awe as soon as he saw his surroundings. Before him was a vast monochrome desert, misted by transparent fogs of dust in the distance. But what truly earned his gaze was the starry sky above, and the three large planets it cradled.
Two of the heavenly bodies seemed fine, perhaps closer than should be possible, taking their supposed gravitational pulls into account. But the largest Earth-like planet furthest from the duo was missing a third of its mass, having a massive chunk taken out of it. Its molten core stretched miles upon miles out the center, reaching out as glowing orange tendrils into a field of floating stone and debris.
The rest of the Vigilants poured out through the portal behind Y/n, and basked in the surrounding landscape and skies with him.
Dexter: Incredible.
Danny: Yeah... Don't see that every day.
Jenny: What do you think happened here?
Rex: I don't know... But Strike's got one hell of a view.
Y/n: We can sightsee later.
Y/n interrupted with a serious tone, turning to the group.
Y/n: Right now, we gotta find Strike, and undo what he did to Ruby... If we...
Y/n trailed off, having a more somber expression as he adverted eye contact from the Vigilants.
Jenny: We will, Y/n. We will.
Jenny said in a reassuring tone, causing him to look back and smile, though his eyes did conceive an inkling of doubt.
Jack: Over here. I found tracks.
The Vigilants looked over to the samurai, who was crouched down several feet away from the team. They all gathered over to him to see what he found. Originating from where the portal was, trailed a path of foot shaped imprints in the grey ground. Looking at his own feet, and looking back at the prints, Jack compared his own foot size to the ones that left the imprint.
Jack: They seem larger than most footprints I've seen.
Y/n: That makes sense. Strike was pretty big.
Jack: Then Strike must be somewhere down there.
Jack deduced as he stood up, looking where the tracks lead. Everyone looked where he was staring, to see the footprints lead towards the edge of a cliff a few meters away. The team approached the edge, and all looked down into the gargantuan crater.
Within the vast chasm, was an assortment of small one-story buildings resembling small homes, accompanied by a landing pad, heavy duty excavating vehicles, and several giant fueling tanks for said vehicles. But what truly got their eye was the massive ship towering over the area, resting beside a cavernous man-made cave just large enough for it to fit into.
