Chapter 12- Girlfriend

"I knew there were some signs from you in the beginning," Gracie said.

"I don't know what you're talking about," he said, scratching the back of his head.

"What did my son tell you?" she asked.

"Confidential, speaking from a former nurse," he said.

"I will drag you to your grave, and make it miserable," she said, gritting her teeth together, and pinching his ear.

"Ouch, ouch. Still not got to tell you," he said.

Gracie pinched harder.

"Fuck, fine. One of the informants of Cameron contacted me, and needed me to get filled in with information Jason gave me, and he wants Melissa to feel like shit," he spoke fast.

"Thank you," she said, letting go of his ear.

"Hey, what's going on–" Jason stopped.

"Jason, here now," his mom pointing in front of her.

"Yes, mama," he said.

Greyson was trying not to laugh at Jason.

"Estúpido," she said, smacking the back of his head.

Back at the house

Melissa was getting ready for bed, and another text came from Jason. "Watch your back bitch"

"Fuck," she said, aggressively grabbing her hair.

"Everything okay?" Ashlynn asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine," she said, turning off the bathroom light.

"Mi amor, puedes hablar conmigo," Ashlynn says, patting on the bed.

Melissa started sweating quickly.

"I need a breather," she said, walking out the room.

Melissa went outside, and sat by the pool.

"Nervous," Gracie said, sitting down.

"Yeah, I can't tell her," she said, forming tears.

"Don't because she's recovering too, and forgetting about her problems," Gracie said, looking at the stars.

"You know what this reminds me of," Melissa said.

"Jason, and I's first date. The date went wrong, he forgot everything at his apartment, and he was embarrassed I suggested that we go to my favorite pizza spot, and he liked it. We ended the night on a blanket in the park, and the stars were shining bright," Melissa laughed.

"He never introduced me to his family," she continues.

"We're a handful," Gracie said.

"I can tell," she said.

"Everything was going right in the first 2 years of us dating, and he started experimenting with drugs. He became violent quickly, and I pressed charges, but I dropped them now I regret it. It was like every night he got worse, and I was done with violence so I left," Melissa said, wiping her tears that she didn't notice came down her face.

"You're brave, and that took some courage," Gracie said.

"That's why I got this tattoo," she said.

"And I know what it's like to be a drug addict. My mom was a single mother taking care of her child, that child had good grades, got into the top colleges, and graduated at the top of her class. For the father, he left when this child was a baby. This child became a teenager, and hated the world, snuck out the night before her first day of college, spent that night doing drugs, and didn't end up going to school because she withdrew before the start of classes. She spent that time going out with friends', doing combination drugs, and fighting people for drugs. This teenager hated her mom for the life of her, criticized her about her choices, and why she didn't go to college. Her mother kicked her out, and she bounced from house to house every week, worked on the streets on the weekends to make money for some drugs, and ended up in a back alley almost dead because something bad happened to her that night with a guy she thought she could trust. She was lucky to live, and get a second shot at life, she got clean, threw away her past, and went back to school. She got her first apartment, first car, and first real job. She finished law school in 4 years, and working at the biggest companies in New York," Melissa said.
