"so you're Sam's friend?" Maskwa's mother asked Paitoon as they sat around the kitchen table drinking coffee.
"yes ma'am, my fiancé's boss had to go up to the ski lodge so I bummed a ride" he smiled.
"you're handsome too, are you a model as well?" she asked him.
"yes but I don't model as much as I used to now" Paitoon replied.
Maskwa had taken care of his horse a while ago and had disappeared upstairs.
"Sam told me that your son is helping him with the shoot ma'am" Paitoon said.
"it seems so doesn't it" she smiled as Maskwa walked into the kitchen.
"hello nikosis, son did you eat yet?"
"mmm thank you mom" Maskwa replied looking at Sam and his friend curiously.
"I'm guessing you were up at the cabin, was everything ok up there?" his mother asked.
"yes mom, I cleaned it up a little and changed the bedding" Maskwa replied.
"you went to a cabin?" Sam asked.
"yes, Sam could I possibly have a quick word with you in private?" Maskwa asked him.
"sure, I won't be long toonie" Sam said following Maskwa back up to his room.
Maskwa opened his bedroom door and stood back to allow Sam to enter then he followed behind and closed the door.
"what's all this about Maskwa?" Sam asked.
"it's about yesterday and how I snapped at you, I want to apologise and try to explain" he began.
"there's really no need to, you were right, your life is none of my business and I should stay out of it!" Sam replied.
"please Sam, it's not that, I didn't mean ... look I did a lot of thinking last night and you were right, I've been in a slump but ..." Maskwa began.
"look, it's really got nothing to do with me Maskwa, your business is just that but you promised to help us with the shoot, that's all I care about, are you still in or do I need to find someone else?" Sam asked him.
"do you even realise how hard it is for someone like me to admit I am wrong and you're dismissing me so easily" Maskwa said.
"oh I'm sorry, did you want a fanfare?" Sam said.
"why are you being such a jerk?" Maskwa said.
"what? you go missing all night and all morning and I don't know where you are or if you're ok or who you're with ..." Sam exploded.
"wait, you were worried about me or are you being jealous right now or maybe both?" Maskwa smiled.
"what jealous? why the hell should I be jealous?" Sam snapped.
Maskwa walked forward and pulled Sam into his arms holding him close,
"I was alone Sam, I went up to a friends cabin to think"
"and the friend?" Sam questioned him.
"he ..." Maskwa looked down at his feet.
"this cabin, did it belong to your first love?" Sam asked.
Maskwa nodded,
"I went up there to think and to clean the place a little"
"and the flower?"
"I'll tell you about that next time" Maskwa promised.
"so what about the shoot?" Sam asked.
"I'm still in, I promised to help you and I will"
