"you're where?" Paitoon asked his friend Sam Chalarmsong as they chatted on the phone.

"I'm in Canada and it's so cold, I can't believe I let my agent talk me into this gig"

"but is the money good?" toonie asked.

"you know I don't get out of bed for peanuts baby boy, anyway ... how is that delicious hunk of a boyfriend of yours?"

"you know Chit, he's fine"

"it's about time you guys tied the knot isn't it?"

"I feel as if we're married anyway, we live together, do almost everything together except when he has something big going down at work or I'm on location, speaking of ... when do you begin shooting?" toonie asked.

"in a few day's time, we're travelling north and then we have to ride pack horses up to some god forsaken village in the mountains, I mean I'm all for authenticity and all that but I ask you, it's going to be torture on my poor butt and what about my skin, I'll look old and leathery before my time" Sam replied.

"surely not Sam' you're a professional, you got this dude, show all those newbies what modelling is all about" Paitoon said.

"I wish you were here toonie, we could have a blast after shooting is over but then again perhaps there won't be anywhere to actually have a good time? I doubt there are any french restaurants where I'm headed" Sam said and Paitoon could just imagine him pouting.

"don't you think you're being a bit unfair..." Paitoon said.

"maybe but I'm cold and hungry baby boy and a cold and hungry Sam isn't an impartial one, I need my tummy filling first" Sam laughed.

"well, the sooner you get up there and do the shoot, the sooner you get to come home" toonie said.

"I guess, hey, I wonder if they have those dogs, the ones with a barrel around their neck that's full of booze" Sam laughed.

"I doubt it, wrong country for start not to mention it wouldn't do your skin much good either would it" Paitoon replied.

"probably not but I'd be too wrecked to care ... ok, gotta' go, the van driver and crew are all glaring at me, love you babes" Sam said laughing.

"love you too, I'll talk to you soon Sam, stay safe" toonie replied before ending the call.

Sam looked down at his phone and sighed, toonie was right 'the sooner I get on with it the sooner I can go back home to Thailand' he thought as he walked across to the sprinter that was waiting to ferry them all as far as it could go before they had to transfer to horses.

Why the heck couldn't the producer run to hiring a helicopter? he'd seen loads of them on the apron ... 'well he'd better be prepared to pay compensation if I get hurt or sick from the cold' Sam thought as he looked back at the airport, this would probably be his last glimpse of civilisation for a while.

He climbed into the van with the rest of the team then made himself comfortable enjoying the heat and luxurious seating before popping in his G3 airpods then he leaned back and closed his eyes to shut out the world.

"Maskwa, get up, the sun has been up for hours and yet here you are still laying in your bed ... kikîskwêwinâkosin, don't you realise how crazy and foolish you look to everyone" Maskwa's father tried to rouse him.

"I don't care father, leave me alone" Maskwa replied.

"what the hell is wrong with you boy, you used to be up when the sky turned yellow with your mother and I but now all you do is drink"
