Maybe I should only have an apple I muse. I snatch my apple out of my bag, looking around and quickly disposing of my sandwich in the nearest garbage can. I don't want to waste it, but if I come home with it still in my backpack, my family is going to get really suspicious. I take a bite out of my apple, suddenly faced with the problem of where to eat again. I walk around, munching on my apple, when I see Hope and her friends.
Might as well sit with them I shrug, walking towards them and pausing right before I intrude. If it seems like they don't want me there I can always act like I just need to ask Hope a question.
"Faith! I can't believe you're here!" Hope smiles as soon as she sees me standing there. I can't tell if it's an invitation to sit or just friendly.
"Can I-can I sit here?" I ask, blushing when I stutter.
"Yeah, of course! But where's your sandwich?" There wasn't any accusation in her tone, only curiosity.
"I couldn't wait so I ate it." I chuckle nervously.
"Oh!" Hope suddenly exclaims, as if just realizing that her friends are here too, "These are my friends...again." She giggles cutely.
"Hi. I'm sorry I didn't introduce myself properly last time, I was really nervous and didn't want to be late." I blurt out, sitting down slowly, as if to test whether I was really welcomed or not. Not by Hope, but by her friends. No one makes a move to sit away from me, or sends me a discouraging look so I sit down fully.
"Hey Faith. Nice hair." Ashlee flashes me a perfectly white smile. I smile, subconsciously reaching up to touch my hair that I straitened, then pulled back my bangs with a clip. It was nothing compared to her gorgeous blonde hair tied up in an elegant French braid that sits perfectly on her shoulder.
"Thanks," I say, slightly self consciously.
These are Hope's friends, you don't belong here I shake my head, to clear away these these thoughts. What's wrong with me?
"You okay Faith?" Ashlee asks me, being beside me she had seen me shake my head.
"Yeah, sorry there was a bug." I lie.
"Oh they are the only reason I don't like this season! There are so many of them!" Ashlee agrees with me. I look over and notice Evan hasn't said anything. He's looking at me, weird. Almost like...like...
/Like he knows everything/ the thought flashes through my mind, scaring me. He can't know, I don't even know what's happening.
"Faith?" Hope asks me.
"Sorry I zoned out." I chuckle nervously.
"Oh, well I was asking, what's your next class?" Hope asks me.
"I have English." I say after looking at the writing on my hand.
"You wrote it on your hand?" Hope laughs. I can feel a scarlet blush creeping up my cheeks.
"I forget things easily."
"That's such a Faith thing. Don't worry, it's cute." She winks at me.
"You have math in the morning, right?" Evan suddenly speaks up.
"Yeah, how did you know?" I look at him curiously.
"First of all, it's written right there on your hand," he gestures as I mentally face palm, how could I not have guessed that? "And I'm in the same class."
"Oh, sorry but I guess I just didn't notice you." I shrug, feeling a bit like a bitch.
"Yeah, you're in academic?" He asks, not rudely, but in a way that he's almost surprised.
