"oww sorry" Sam said.
Everyone went back into the house and the stylist made coffee while the photographer uploaded his work then got all the thumbnails on his laptop screen to review the shots.
Everyone gathered around to see how they turned out and Maskwa could believe the man in the pictures was him, the photographer had made him look so different, taller and quite good looking and he was right, he and Sam did look great together.
"what happens next?" Maskwa asked everyone.
"well do we have your permission to send a few proof shots to the clients?"
"I guess, they look better than I thought they would" Maskwa replied.
"great, then we wait for the outfits to arrive and do the same again but wearing the new designs, ok I'm going to the little boys room" Sam said and wandered away.
"uh ..." Maskwa began,
"what?" the photographer asked him.
"the pictures with Sam and me, can I buy them?" Maskwa asked feeling himself begin to blush.
"don't be silly darling ... you can have copies for free" the photographer replied grinning from ear to ear.
"I'm going home then if you don't need me anymore" Maskwa said.
"wait Maskwa, I'll come with you I just need a quick word ..." Sam called out having just returned from the bathroom and hearing the end of their conversation.
"ok, I'll wait outside, I need some air" Maskwa said walking out of the door.
"so, do you think we can make this work?" Sam asked the photographer.
"the guy is very photogenic Sam, I think you have single handedly saved this shoot"
"not me, it was all Maskwa" Sam said.
"well I'm going to study these shots and sort out a few proofs to send the clients, I have a few great ideas for locations so now we just wait for the outfits"
"yeah ... in the meantime, can I have copies of the pictures of Maskwa and I?" Sam asked.
"you like him?" the photographer asked Sam.
"who wouldn't, he is super handsome, tall, sexy but he's also ... I feel like he's a good man"
"don't forget, we're only here for a few days Sam"
"I know, don't remind me ... so what are you saying that all we have going for us is an affair at best?" Sam said.
"that's not for me to say darling but where there's a will there's a way, if you both want each other enough a solution will present itself"
"mmm, maybe it's just lust?" Sam said.
"get over here and look at these pictures again, the ones where you're both looking across the plains, look at your eyes ... trust me honey, that's not lust"
"why the hell did I ever take this gig?" Sam cursed.
"I don't know but you better get out there before big chief sexy ass takes off without you!"
"ok, I'm going ... call me if you hear anything" Sam replied.
"will do, I'll talk to you later"
"yep, stay safe you guys, call me if you need me" Sam said before walking outside to find Maskwa lounging against a tree in the front yard.
"are you good?" he asked standing upright.
"yes, thank you for waiting" Sam replied.
"so ... it's been a pretty weird day?" Maskwa said.
"hasn't it ... and I just realised, you didn't ask how much once" Sam said.
"what do you mean?" Maskwa asked him.
"well, most people would have asked how much they would get for the modelling gig" Sam replied.
"but I'm doing it for you, as a favour"
"you still should be paid, don't worry, I'll make sure you get generously compensated, you've saved a lot of asses today" Sam said
"well, if you're sure but it's not necessary" Maskwa assured him.
"it's necessary to me, modelling is not an easy job, you deserve to be compensated for it, trust me" Sam said.
"come on then, let's go and eat, I'm going to ..."
"the bar? oh no, you can't drink Maskwa, it will ruin your skin" Sam said.
"you're kidding right?" Maskwa said.
"no I'm not kidding at all, look ... you really shouldn't be drinking like that"
"you don't know anything about me" Maskwa replied.
"I know that you go there every night and just drink until you can't stand up"
"so what? I don't hurt anyone"
"maybe not, but you're hurting yourself, do you think that's what he would have wanted?" Sam said.
"who?"
"the guy who went missing, your first love" Sam said.
"WHO HAVE YOU BEEN TALKING TO" Maskwa shouted as he grabbed Sam's upper arms.
"you're hurting me" Sam replied.
"stay out of my business" Maskwa snapped, torn between his desire for Sam and his feelings for Pipon, in the end he pushed Sam away from him and stormed off.
"I wish I could but I find myself wanting to help you" Sam whispered to himself as he watched the tall hunter walk away.
