Toki Wartooth x Reader - You Ams My Sunshines

Y/N's POV

I awoke to the sounds of faint, slightly off-tune humming coming from my right. My boyfriend, Toki, was lying on his stomach with his legs wagging in the air. He had his Dethphone in his hand, playing a familiar tune I recognised from my childhood. "You Are My Sunshine", that old nursery rhyme my guardian used to sing to me when I was young. That stupid song always made me cry.

I discreetly glanced at the clock, not wanting to disturb Toki from his little music session. 11:14am. Jesus, I slept long. I shut my eyes gently and rolled to my side, draping an arm over my boyfriend. He jumped and let out a short squeal of surprise, causing him to drop his Dethphone and drop it on the mattress, poking a few holes in it due to the spikes. He let out a high-pitched gasp and tore his phone out, ripping open the holes wider. I grabbed his wrist, preventing him from doing any further harm.

"Toki, stop! You're making the tears worse!" I whisper-yelled, taking the slumber of my peers just next door into consideration.

"Oh, I's sorries, Y/N! I's panics and I's-" I cut off his rambling.

"It's fine Toki, just be more careful." I softly spoke. I'll ask Charles to sew it all up later. I finished off my sentence by pressing a kiss against his cheek. His cheeks dusted pink and he grew a tiny smile.

"I's will!" He said brightly, his eyes lit up. God, I love this man. I smiled and cuddled him tight.

"What were you listening to, anyway?" I ask curiously. You wouldn't expect a death metal guitarist with millions of dollars to listen to babies nursery rhymes, would you? There had to be a reasoning to it. I see his face flush and he grins sheepishly.

"Well, you sees.. I was learnings a songs for yous, Y/N!" Toki cheerfully exclaimed. He learnt a song? For ME?

"..really?" I ask in disbelief, my eyes glazing over in admiration and pure love for the man in front of me.

"Reallys! Do yous wants to hear my songs?" He eagerly asked, his eyes wide and pupils dilated so far his iris was barely visible. I nodded so quickly, I made myself dizzy. He giggled a little before beginning to sing.

"You ams my sunshines,"

His singing was the tiniest bit off-key, but that just added to the adorableness of it...

"My's only sunshines,"

"You makes me's happies,"

"When skies ams greys."

"You'll never knows, dears,"

"How much I's loves yous!"

"Please don'ts takes,"

"My sunshines,"

"Aways!" He finished with a dorky grin.

By the time he finished, about five tears had sneaked out of my eyes and down my cheeks. Toki's eyes widened at the sight.

"A-Are yous okays, Y/N?! Was I's that's bad?" Toki stammered, taken aback.

"No, no. You were amazing, love." I proceeded to tell Toki about this stupid curse, as I call it. This stupid fucking nursery rhyme. Making ME cry. Toki giggled.

"This songs makes yous cry?" He snickered playfully. I rolled my eyes and nodded. He burst out laughing.

I was 100% up for a long, long day and night.
