As Amelia lies beside William, tears stream down his cheeks. "I am sorry, Amelia," he whispered, his voice tinged with sorrow. "Because of my madness, I hurt you. I never meant for any of this to happen. You deserve so much better than what I've put you through." He reaches out to touch her hand, seeking forgiveness in her eyes. "I promise to do whatever it takes to make things right and to make amends for the pain I've caused. Please, Amelia, can you find it in your heart to forgive me?"

Before Amelia could respond, William leaned in cautiously, his lips meeting hers in a tender kiss. There was a hunger in his touch, a yearning for the connection they had once shared, but it was tinged with uncertainty, as if he feared she would pull away at any moment.

As the morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow over the tangled sheets and scattered clothes, Amelia awakened from her sleep. Her eyes fluttered open, but instead of the usual warmth, there was a distant look in her gaze as she glanced at William lying beside her. She knew that despite the tender moments they had shared last night, things could no longer return to the way they once were. The scars of the abuse ran too deep within her; no amount of longing could erase that pain.

As William sat at his desk in the office, his mind was filled with thoughts of reconciliation with Amelia. He couldn't help but feel a sense of happiness bubbling within him, and unconsciously, he found himself humming a tune.

Just then, James, his loyal secretary, entered the room, holding medications in his hands. "Master, I've brought the medicine as per Steven's prescription," James announced, his voice emanating fear.

Curiosity flickered in William's eyes as he leaned forward. "What kind of medicine did he prescribe?" he inquired, his voice tinged with anticipation.

James hesitated for a moment, his gaze shifting uneasily. "These medicines are for mental illness," he finally admitted, his tone cautious.

A flicker of surprise passed over William's features before a shadow of something darker crossed his face. His once happy demeanour transferred into something more menacing, and a low, unsettling laugh escaped his lips, sending shivers down James' spine.

"So, he really thinks I'm mad," William pondered aloud, his voice dripping with bitter amusement. "And these medicines will cure me?" He shook his head incredulously, a bitter smile playing on his lips.

James, taken aback by William's sudden change in demeanour, shifted uncomfortably. "I...I don't know, Master," he stammered, unsure of how to proceed.

But William's laughter only grew louder, echoing off the walls of the office. "But what if I'm just born like this?" He pondered aloud, his voice filled with a hint of desperation. "Do you think these medicines will still be able to cure me?"

James met his gaze, fear evident in his eyes. "No, Master, you are completely fine," he replied softly, his voice filled with conviction. "So I don't think you need these medicines."

A heavy silence settled over the room as William contemplated James' words. Then, with a sigh, he leaned back in his chair, running a hand through his hair in frustration.

"But I have to do something," he muttered, more to himself than to James. "I have to show Amelia that I'm trying and that I'm struggling to cure myself for her."

Suddenly, a satisfied smile spread across William's lips as he came up with a plan. He instructed James to replace each of the pills in the bottles with vitamin supplements. Even though it was a risky gamble, he was willing to take it in order to maintain the facade of his illness for his wife.

Amelia's heart filled with a mixture of joy and anxiety as she stood in front of the mirror, adjusting the delicate straps of her golden-coloured dress. It had been two months since William had started showering her with affection, and during that time, she had allowed herself to believe that perhaps he truly was changing for the better. His gestures of love had been consistent, his words sincere, and with each passing day, she is trying to revive the love she once had for him.

As she put the finishing touches on her appearance, she couldn't help but feel a flutter of excitement mingled with uncertainty. Their one-year wedding anniversary was a milestone she had both eagerly anticipated and feared. The past year had been a rollercoaster of emotions, filled with moments of bliss and despair, but tonight, she hoped, would mark a new beginning for their relationship.

Downstairs, the grand hall was alive with the buzz of anticipation as the butler and James meticulously attended to the final preparations for the evening's party. The soft glow of candlelight danced off the polished silverware, and the aroma of exquisite cuisine filled the air, setting the stage for a night to remember.

A gentle knock on the door interrupted Amelia's reverie, and she called out, "Come in." William stepped into the room, his presence commanding attention even in the dimly lit space. Dressed in a tailored black suit that accentuated his tall, lean frame, he exuded an air of sophistication and charm.

In his hands, he held a bouquet of roses, their vibrant hues contrasting beautifully against the backdrop of his attire. With a warm smile, he extended the flowers towards her, his eyes filled with a mixture of remorse and adoration. "Happy anniversary, my love," he whispered softly, his voice laced with sincerity. "I know I've made mistakes in the past, but I promise to make it up to you. From now on, your life will be filled with only happiness."

Amelia's heart swelled at his words, and she reached out to accept the roses, their velvety petals brushing against her fingertips. "Thank you," she replied, her voice tinged with emotion. "And happy anniversary, William."

As they stood facing each other, the weight of their shared history hung heavy in the air, but tonight, there was a glimmer of hope shining brightly between them. With a gentle gesture, William extended his hand towards her, his eyes filled with unspoken promises. "Shall we join the guests?" he asked, his tone tender yet determined.

Amelia nodded, her hand trembling slightly as she placed it in his. As they made their way downstairs, William drew close to her, his lips brushing against her ear as he whispered, "You look stunning today."
