May I please have your attention

for a philosophic question

on the matter of existence here on earth

You know we're mostly made of water

but there's more I think you ought-er

know – though I won't be listing all of it below

Suffice it to be said

beyond a tiny mass of lead

there are fifty-eight or so more elements in play

Water generates the puzzle

(that liquid which we guzzle)

over where it's gone when we depart this realm

Non-gaseous elements we know

have no place else to go

except back into the space from whence they came

No it's the water, which I think

must go back into the drink

and reappear as rain or ice or snow

So from that evaporation

we partake of a libation

made up of all the folks we used to know

Now energy is next

that thing that leaves us all perplexed

'cause we know it can't be made nor can it die

So does it meet its counterparts

from those millions of departs

and create the living cycle once again

If it does what does that mean

what conclusions can be seen

does that mixture constitute another life

And would it carry with it memories

from a variety of treasuries

suggesting reincarnation is a fact

Though many say it's so much patter

I think I may believe the latter

because the light that sparks ideas in my brain

often flickers information seemingly sublime

with tantalizing hints that elude me at the time

and force me to respond with "Come again?"

I promised something lighter :)
